Michael Padilla is a complete rip-off who installed granite against our agreed design for our kitchen island and has made our island 3-6 inches smaller than our previous island. Our intent was to have a larger kitchen island with a kidney type of design. My husband and Michael drew this design together on paper. Michael changed our install date at the last minute so we were unable to take off work and be home during the installation, he assured us everything would be ok and there would not be a mess, etc. and he would call should anything come up.

I came home to find myself in a state of shock with the condition and look of my kitchen! The island was now a rectangle type of shape with a straight line but not not straight as there is a 3-6 nches width difference from one end to the next! (no curves like we designed and making it much smaller. The design was completely nothing like we requested or designed together and clearly looks like a piece of slab that was cut perhaps from a different job that was cut at an angle and not even straight. 

The counter installation was a complete disaster of a mess, leaving our entire home full of major dust and everything in all our cabinets were covered in soot!  He said no granite cutting would occur and it was evident that he cut everything in our home! This was the absolute worst mess I have ever seen. We have built two homes before and have done other remodels. This was a mess that I can’t explain!

Our walls behind the granite have several large gouges that will require repairing and not just paint due to the sloppy and careless work. There are some large gouges in our dark wood cabinets that cannot be repaired, also.(this home is only 12 months old)

We had also requested our stair banister toppers to be replaced with granite in addition to our window sil in the kitchen. Michael just glued pieces of granite on top of the wood banisters instead of removing the wood and replacing with the granite, as planned. The length of the granite is not the same length and we now have two pieces of material glued on top of something that is also approximately 3 inches longer than the wood underneath. He never installed the granite on our window sil. (Thank God)

 After numerous attempts to request that he fix the job per our agreement and design, he is unwilling to do so. He did apologize and agreed to fix the banisters but will not fix the island or repair the major damage he caused to our walls and cabinets. We are now forced to file a claim against this crook but unfortunately after reading the several other complaints about him and his other alias names and business, it may be a long shot getting our 50% money we already paid, and the work done correctly, per our agreement. I’m at a loss and in complete dis-satisfaction with how my new kitchen looks!

People like this NEED to be tagged and BANNED from being able to continue to rip-off hard working and honest people! I hope someday I can nail this creep and have him pay to have a qualified and honest person install granite correctly and per our design in my kitchen. BEWARE of this criminal!

When I originally started the design for these customers, I went through and designed the island with the husband's help.  Both husband and wife were present at time of original design and both agreed upon the price and the design of the island.  The next day I show up at the house to do the template for the new island and only the wife is present.  It is at this time that the wife tells me how she doesnt like the design her husband came up with and wants it changed.  I proceeded to show the wife at the least 60 different islands we had done for other customers.  After looking through the pictures she picked a design she liked.  When I questioned her about the change and how her husband would react, she told me it was her house and she was paying for the granite, and I was to complete the island with the design she chose. 

 

On the day of installation we were forced to cut out the stove top in place and I had asked the husband if he had an additional vaccum to help with the mess. The husband gave me their vaccum but when we started to use it I questioned the functionality of the vaccum.  It did nothing but blow any and alll dust and particles in the air, so bad that we had to stop cutting to let things settle.  After we were done cutting, we cleaned all visble dust and particles in our immediate work area.  I also am very clear to inform customers, that if any cutting will be nessecary in their home that there will be some mess to deal with, and that we will do our best to clean any all dust we can get to. 

 

After we completed installation, I met with the husband to pick up a final check.  We walked around the kitchen and discussed a few minor issues, such as the mess, that I informed him would be no problem for us to come take care of.  During our final inspection the husband proceeded to lock the front dead bolt to the house and inform me he was going to beat me up.  He then approached me very aggressive in mannner, poking his finger into my chest.  When I told him I wanted to leave he refused and continued to poke me.  I then called 911 on my cell phone to request police help in the situation.

 

In conclusion I feel that this couple was not financially stable to have this granite installed to begin with because of conversations I had with the wife.  I think that this customer knew they didnt have the money and when his wife changed the design he lost it and took it out on me.  I have tried several times to correct the situation even after the husband attacked me but the customer refuses.
