I am a single-mother with not so great credit. I was attempting to find a way to get a small personal loan in order to move into an apartment and do some small auto repairs. This company contacted me stating that one of their lenders approved me and that I just had to put a "down payment" of the first 5 payments due to my poor credit; then I would not have to pay any payments for the first five months. This sounded reasonable to me give that my credit stinks.

So as soon as I got paid I wired the money to some woman's name in Canada; i was told that the fee was less if it was a "person-to-person" wire transfer. Then the next business day the amount of my loan would be in my account by 5 p.m. The next business day was a Monday and by 5 p.m. there was nothing in my account. When I called the person back I was working with he said he was no longer allowed in my account and that I had to speak to the customer service rep to find out the problem.

This customer service rep told me that the lender "reassesed" my loan and due to my poor credit wanted another 5 payments to secure an insurance policy against my loan in case of default. I thought about it for about two days and thought it sounded just too fishy, plus I just didn't have the money to send to them again. I contacted the customer service rep who told me he would put in a form to get my money refunded but I would have to wait until July 12th, something about the lenders billing cycle.

Well it is the day after July 12th and the money is not in my account and when I tried calling Hillside their number just says "goodbye" and then hangs up on you. I'm pretty sure after reading other stories on this website that I won't be getting this money back. I am a single mom and gave my entire paycheck to these people believing I would get loan money to help me out.

You sent money to someone you don't know in a foreign country. What did you expect would happen ??? No lender EVER requires ANY money to be paid up front for ANY reason on a personal loan. IT IS ILLEGAL TO DO SO !!! Do you not know this ??? You're correct about one thing, though. You'll never see a penny of your money again. WISE UP !!!
