Hilton Hotels Have some advance purchase option not clearly identified as being non-refundable, Internet

Have been staying at Hilton hotels for years as a travelling salesman and have never been told I could not cancel a reservation until today.  After speaking to several people I finally told them to cancel my HHoners membership and had to pull teeth to get that done.  So given the option of canceling the membership and loosing my business, as well as the business of the other 3 sales reps in our company, or canceling a one night reservation they choose to cancel my membership and loose any future business.
