I attended Hiner Transport orientation a few weeks ago.  Here is some information I think will help you if you decide to attend their orientation also.

First of all there is no way in or out of Huntington Indiana either by bus or taxi.  I used my own vehicle to get there but ***I was never reimbursed for gas expenses.

After completing the orientation I was issued one of the worst trucks I have ever seen.  They did not have qual-com but a system called **'people net' which was inoperable in the truck I was issued.  The glass on the front was broken and it had internal non-working parts.

The truck had an **automatic transmission which are in all of their trucks.  The truck would not move more than a few feet before stalling out.

I was told to pick up a specific trailer in their yard.  When I finally found it, it had a huge hole in it.  I went into the office to tell my dispatcher Shawn Greene about the trailer (I had to walk in because 'people net' was not working) he just shrugged his shoulders.  I also mentioned the fact that the truck and 'people net' were not up to DOT standards and were inoperable.

I got the brush of from both Shane Sanderson (safety trainer) and my dispatcher Shawn Matson.

Because I refused to operate a truck that was obviously a safety hazard, I just walked away after returning company property.

During the orientation class Shane Sanderson announced to the whole class that one of the driver's had failed the drug test.  I was surprised to hear that this guy had failed the drug test. He was a nice young African American who did not even smoke.  He seemed very well spoken and well groomed.  I don't think that they had the right to tell the whole class something so personal, if it was even true!

If you are considering employment with this company, I would suggest that you try somewhere else.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

Yea...Hiner has crap equipment and is not very good

I too worked for Hiner for 5 months regretfully.  I always give a job at least a year when I first start but was ready to quit after a month.  I knew things were starting bad when the first week I was out I got stuck in Kansas City for the weekend to wait on a load.  Two weeks later, on my way home for New Years, my power divider blows out in Harrisburg, PA.  I had to spend New Years and the following day in a hotel room.  They had the nerve to try to blame me for it going out.  The crap truck had almost 400,000 miles on it and I never even used the freaking thing for the 3 weeks that I had driven it.  When I finally made it back to Huntington they gave me a loaner truck that was worse than the one I was driving!!  It still had all of someone else's stuff in it that was in trouble for something or another.  I did finally get my original truck back after they had to spend about 3000 bucks to get the power divider fixed.  My people net worked SOME of the time, mostly not.  I do believe Hiner is on it's way out anyways.  The people I work for now, who are really great, pulled a Hiner brokered load awhile back and got stiffed 600 bucks.  All they got was friendly letter saying to "please don't try to collect on this bill at this time."  I finally quit after being out a month with only 18 hrs at the house.  Luckily, my current employer called me wanting to hire me and I quit on the spot.  I agree...if you are thinking about working for Hiner, don't.  They used to have a get home every weekend policy...not anymore.  They NOW say you have REGULAR hometime, which can mean every two weeks or maybe longer.
