I was contacted by an individual who said they had 2 opportunities which my resume seemed to fit. He then asked me a series of questions which later proved to have nothing to do with anything. We then set up a time for an interview in Nashua.

I arrived at the interview to be told that HiProFile had a number of client who paid a fee for the services of HiProFile and could place up to 5 people a year without additional fees. There was mention of a refundable show/no show fee also. The implication was that the employer paid the fee.

I was asked a couple of questions which would normally come up in an interview and of course stumbled on them because I did not expect them. The hook is set. The bait partially nibbled.

I was then told that an executive meeting was to be held the next morning in which candidates would be selected for the two openings they were working on. The individual I talked to said he would call all those who were not going to be considered by 10:30 the next morning. I waited and then sent an email confirming the meeting we had previously set up for the next Monday and received a confirmation thus leading me to believe I was being considered for one of the two positions. A suspicion began to develop here.

At the next meeting there was no mention of the client companies nor the refundable show/no show fee. The two opportunites were mentioned again but no details could be extracted as to what or where they were. A very short Powerpoint presentation on paper was presented listing the things Hi ProFile would do for me. Then I was shown a list of successful clients with their first name, salary and a percent which indicated how much above the initial offer the client received.

Then I was shown a form with an amount they expected me to receive as well as how much it was going to cost me (first mention of this). Ultimately $10,500 if I got a job at the salary they projected. If I ended up in a job for less pay, they would reduce the total by $3,500 to $7,000. The switch to employee paid services. Suspicion confirmed.

I responded via email that since there was no way for me to validate the success of the clients and that the agreement provided gave me no protection if HiProFile couldn't or didn't do their job, I could not commit my funds to their company at this time.

I received an email 8/10 directing me to the rebuttal on your site. My response was that it did not rebut any of the facts but was rather a finger waving and those "bad" people on the Web who say bad things.

They may be successful at what they do but the marketing approach is certianly appoaching an elusive bait and switch type.
