We Purchsed a car in May 2017 from david Hoffman the onwer of Hoffman auto sales. I put a 2,000.00 deposit down on the truck and they were given a list of things to do before we picked up the 2004 Cadalliac Escalade. Tires, rear defroster was broke, some break lines, ext. The day we picked up the truck they were in such a rush to shove us out the door. Now my husband has been a nys inspecter and a mechanic for close to 15 years. He plugged in the moniter to see if all moniters were infact ready. They were not all ready, So we spoke to louie, who stated it was fine and we just had to drive it so the moniters would all clear. My husband procedded to show him his insectors licenese, and louie said i beileve you, but im telling you all you have to do is drive it and it will be fine.
So ok, we have six kids with us, so we decided to just go and see what happens. Now not even a day later im driving with all my kids in the car , on the thurways doing 60 65 mph. And the whole car reduces speed and I had to immeditely pull the car over to the side of the thruway. The truck read on the dash Reduce Engine Speed. I had to shut the car off and to the point it did not even want to move anymore. We called the car dealer right away, they gave us the run around and said we had to drive it back to rochester. Well i live an hour away. There was no way i was taking any chance in driving this car, exspecially after they told me it was safe to have, since i was worried with having all my kids in this as a daily driver. Now they faught with us to come pick it up and then to give us a rental. They told us to take it up with our insaurance company. My husband refused because we would have to pay out of our pocket for that. So during this we were talking to mike , mainly because everytime you ask to talk to dave the owner hes never there. Finally the deceided to come pick it up and fix the issue. They had the truck about a week, gave us a rental that did not run, you would have to jump the car in order to take it anywhere and leave it running. Another issue they just said sorry we didn't know.
So we get the car back no light is on great! Untill a day or two later the check engine light is on and then we hear a horrible noise coming from the front of the truck. It was the wheel bearing. My husband took the truck up to his work and looked at the truck, and the wheel bearing was about to come right off the truck. This truck never should have passed inspection it was that bad. Also we had an issue with the back off the truck going side to side everytime you would hit a bump. It was the shocks, they were so bad if it was snowing i would been off the road several times. If your driving behind the truck you would think i was drinking and driving it sways that bad. So we call the dealer back up agian with a whole list of issues they never fixed. We actually got to talk to Dave after calling several times, since they never return any phone calls. We told dave still haveing the same issue the car dose not want to run, it reduded speed agian while driving. Told him about the shocks and the deforster they never fixed and the other things we had issues with. Dave tryed getting my husband to do the work and he would pay for the parts. I don't think so. I told my husband no dont do it. Now Dave also said we could get our money back or trade it in. GREAT! Well then he said since we did not have the title yet we could not get our money back, and that once we got the title we could trade it in if we were still having issues and did not like it. Now they took it to thier shop to fix this car about 4 to 5 times.
THis suv is still not running right, the check engine light is still on and so is the check air bag light. Ive gotten hung up on by mike several times. I talked to dave about trading it in or getting our money back because we have the title, and now he says he dose not want it back. Well i wonder why, maybe because there is so many issues with it. So now im suppose to be out 2,000.00. We called this dealership several times never get phone calls back and now they dont even want to deal with us. I can't get them for lemon law since it had over 100,000 miles on it. But this car is an actual lemon. This is so bad that people like that take advantage of people out there like me. We our a family of 8 trying to get by, all i wanted was a nice car that could last for the money i was spending on it. THis is how we got treated. I filled a complaint with the BBB and they never answered it. I'm at the point i Don't know what to do. I can't go and get another car because i don't have the money to put down. I just want help answers, I want my money back. I have the title i told them i would sign it over, and be done with this whole issues. If you go and read he reviews that people left for them, i'm not sure how they are even still in buissnes. This is emotional, stressfull and so draining. I worked so hard to finally have something nice, and i thought wrong.

Just a bit bizarre
AUTHOR: coast - (USA)

It’s odd that an experienced mechanic would purchase a used vehicle with over 100,000 miles on it without a thorough pre-purchase inspection. It’s even more odd that the mechanic’s wife is continuing to operate that vehicle with the check engine warning light on. Apparently his mechanical aptitude is as good as your spelling.
