Hold Billing Services ripoff Nationwide Worldwide

Like the many other reports about these creeps, they called and got an employee to confirm our business address for a "free" internet yellow page listing. When calling the 800-879-4653 number listed on the "HOLD" page of my Qwest bill ($29.95 plus tax for the last 2 months), I got a woman obviously trained to field these complaint calls.

She put me off at first - "no supervisors here" - I remained aggressive in my insistence that we not waste her or my time to remove and credit this bogus billing. After long waits on hold, she came back (probably handling several of us at once), to say she had found a supervisor, and could "pro-rate $10 credit". I told her I was in process of filling out my FCC complaint form number 475 (available at

http://svartifoss2.fcc.gov/cib/fcc475.cfm ) She suddenly put me on hold again to "check with the supervisor" and quickly came back on promising credit for all billing and a confirmation number, documentation to be mailed within 14 days. Whether this comes through or not who knows. Qwest says to underpay by the amount on the bill and mention to apply payment to all items EXCEPT "HOLD". HOLD - which seems to be one in the same as Liberty Online - obviously have a boiler room devoted to confusing and denying - be aggressive and do not let them off the hook - these people should fry!
