On October 15, 2008, I participated in a grueling 4 hour time share presentation (supposedly a 90 minute presentation that they extended to wear me down) After going through 4 managers asking me about why I didn't want their timeshare plan I finally made it to the final manager who asked how my experience was. I was visibly upset/shaken and he said he would get higher management to help me since I was on the verge of tears. Another manager explained to me that the whole group of timeshare people was fired the week prior due to rude, unprofessional behaviors. He told me many were from the states and called Closers and those were the ones who were disrespectful and rude to me. He told me they would make it right' by me and proceeded to show me another plan which is the travel agency plan through Holiday Systems International. The Grupo Mayan folks apparently are all Closers for HSI. They guaranteed me 15 years of $100 burn weeks and 15 years of $500 weeks which I have found none, unless you want to go to Branson, Missouri! I've read on the Web that other buyers have experienced the same frustration of not finding the trips they want at the places and times they want but HSI acts like we aren't trying hard enough. It sounds like many of the complainants flat out choose to not use the service they paid for. On top of the $5,000 they deducted from my credit card there's also an annual $100 fee.
I've tried to work with the HSI agents to find trips and cruises where I would like to go and they are all substandard facilities or dates that aren't acceptable to me. I was told to find cruise deals on the web and they would get me a better rate, which is flat out untrue. The agency is bogus as it's much easier to do the research yourself. I've fretted over this and they flat out say they can't refund my $5000 because Grupo Mayan in Puerta Vallarta sold it to me. BUYER BEWARE DON'T FALL FOR THIS FRAUDULENT COMPANY!

Mayan Palace Timeshare Scam

We were also scammed with a Mayan Palace Timeshare. They claim they don't misrepresent themselves. Yet the promises and the drinks ease you into signing. Once you've done that, you are screwed. Through all the other initials on your contract, you realize you initialled, that they don't misrepresent themselves. Now you are up the creek. We had 2 timeshares they claimed that Alliance marketing would sell for us in 3 months max. We would recoup the money we paid at the Grand Luxxe and would net out ahead of the game. Well 15 months later, I am out $30k and I still have the original timeshares. I have also not heard a word from Alliance marketing in several months. Plus I found out they are a marketing group, thus not legally allowed to sell. I have had to take a 2nd mortgage out on my house. All the answers I have seen from the Mayan on various websites show they are not at all interested in helping out. Do they not have a concious?

I filed a recent report regarding Holiday Systems International. I was upset because I felt they weren't working with me regarding a Taste of Paradise travel membership that I purchased at Grupo Mayan in Puerta Vallarta on October 15, 2008. I've since resolved the issue with them and they have been most generous in working with me to resolve the issue. I've also planned a cruise with them and I'm now VERY HAPPY with the results of my travel request. If you're patient with them and use their customer service representatives as your allies they will work with you to come to a satisfactory resolution. THANK YOU HOLIDAY SYSTEMS INTERNATIONAL for working with me and providing me with a positive solution to my problem and helping me to plan a wonderful Greece vacation cruise I'm looking forward to in October 2009.

I made a previous complaint about HSI and Grupo Mayan but now believe this is a good company to work with. They not only gave me what they promised they also have worked with me to find an unbelievable good deal on a Greece/Italy cruise. Their customer service people are great to work with you just need to give them time to find the best deals for you. Patience is golden as they will match whatever you find on the web and beat the competitions prices. I'm very happy with HSI and Grupo Mayan in Puerta Vallarta.
