In September of 2014 I bought paint a Home Depot. They were running a rebate offer on that paint. The rebate was to take 6-8 weeks and no more than 10(which counterdicts 6-8)nevetheless I never recieved my rebate. I called several times(after the 6-8 and even the 10 weeks had passed) and got answers such as "your rebate is processed and approved give it 10 more days",on another occasion I was told I would get it the next day,Then I called and they said upto 2 more weeks,another time I called they gave me an Tracking # (which is not a mail tracking # it's a Home depot internal tracking # basically useless). Since then I have filed a claim with the BBB,a Home depot rep contacted me and said the rebate center told her by Febuary I would have my rebate(another delay tactic)and gave her a new internal tracking#(my question is what happened to the 1st tracking#? just vanished). My brother in-law purchased the same paint and got the exact same run around and never got his rebate. I think Home depot is doing a delay/wear you out tactic with this rebate. They are either thinking they will wear you out w/bull crap excuses,you will forget about it,heck at this rate they may be hoping you die before they process anything. This is not the 1st time I've seen Home Depot on the Rip Off Repoert and I'm sure not the last.

Home Depot does have sign right above their return desk saying hassle free returns. I have a pro account and they did a similar thing to me. I know the easy answer is hold on to your receipt. However I turn my into accounting dept and it's a minor hassle to get them back for returns. Like the author said I normally don't care because I'm going to spend the money in their store anyways. When I set up my pro account my rep even suggested never having to worry about receipts,it will log just from your phone #. Well on the 1 purchase I had picked it up on a Saturday and the pro desk wasn't open so they claim it didn't log(how could I possibly know that?). I realize they are trying to combat theft and fraud but it does alienate their good customers and make them feel like criminals. On another occasion I even sent my assistant in with a receipt in hand and they denied the return and blacklisted her for 90 days because they said the item being return was a high theft item. If the item is such a problem that you are even suspicious of even someone with a receipt then either stop selling it or post absolutely no returns on this item. How is a legitimite customer supposed to know what's high theft and what's not?
