a contract was signed for an installation of a fence. The reason for the fence was to avoid any more confrontation with the new neighbors that had moved next door to our house. You see, our lawns meet together. Putting up the fence was supposed to resolve or rather defuse the situation.

US Fence a subcontractor for Home Depot came and gave us an estimate. We showed US Fence exactly where we wanted the fence. It was to begin at the end of the neighbors fence and go straight down toward the road where it would end 15ft from the edge of the road. US Fence measured and agreed with where we wanted the fence. We provided the ordinance, which in our town you can put a fence right on the property line. We provided a survey.

The week of the installation we had bad weather, alot of rain. We received a message on the answering machine to call the install people to reschedule. We called and left a message. No one called us back. On the contract it specifically said to call the cell phone listed during business hours, no one every used the cell phone # until the morning of the install, which did not leave us any time to make arrangements to take off work. So we trusted US Fence and Home Depot, we thought it would be okay.

Well it wasn't okay. The fence was installed 2 feet from the property line and 3-4 feet past the neighbors fence, because the installers were too lazy and did not want to cut the fence. The way US Fence put it to us when they called was "oh, we gave you an extra 3-4' at no charge!"

3 months later Home Depot and someone from US Fence went to our house and inspected the fence install. But in the mean time the claims agent who was assigned to this case only returned 3 of my phone calls during the past 3 months, she had poor communication skills and no regard for the customer (us). Home Depot said their was no need to be home and that they would call after they saw the fence. (Home Depot is less than 1/4 mile from our house) Which again we took the chance that Home Depot would correct the probem. Home Depot called me alright, but she totally sided with US Fence. Did not listen to a thing I said, and disregarded the contract, totally. In the contract there is only a drawing of the fence stating 15' off the road and the fence to be 61' long. There were no other measurements documented. So, it really came down to our word against US Fence. US Fence saw and had a copy of the survey and measured when the contract was signed and still agreed to put the fence where we wanted it.

This has been the worst experience ever. We feel robbed as a consumer. We were willing to come to a compromise to have the fence moved over, but Home Depot decided with US Fence that nothing would be done. We are having a hard time of letting this go. In fact we are not going to let this go. The total cost of the fence is around $3,000. One way or another someone will hear our story. We want the fence removed. We do not want to ever do business with Home Depot AGAIN! Customer service has been the worst ever. We have spent over $20,000 + within the past 2 years, half on credit and the other cash, which there is no other balance on the credit card other than the purchase of the fence.

You wonder why sales are down, this why! We have one more room to renovate, the kitchen. We would of spent our money with Home Depot, but never again will we step foot in your store. Usually, when a kitchen is renovated you spend around $35,000 to $40,000, but we rather spend double the amount to be treated with respect and honesty.

To put it into financial terms that Home Depot will understand, I have 7 brothers and sisters, who know all about this nightmare and have agreed to cancel their credit cards and not spend one penny in a Home Depot store, which they will tell all of their friends and their friends will tell their friends and so on. That is alot of money that you Home Depot will lose, guaranteed over a $3000.00 fence. You think on the average household spends $500,000.00 today in a their life time with either renovating or buying something for their home. That's alot of money to lose.

Home Depot & US Fence SUCK! Bad business, bad customer service! Watch out they will screw you, too! Because they will, any chance they can.
