I too have been shafted by HomeSide lending as well. I Was laidoff from my job in 2001 n my husband was let go from his job in 2002. We had contacted HomeSide to tell them of our dilemma that we would not be able to make house payments due to loss of jobs and we would like to avoid forclosure if possible.

they had told us that they would be sending forms and to send the necessary documents and to fill out the paperwork that was required. they said they can do one of three things:

1)Forgive the loan for a short amount of time till we get back on our feet.( they would have to restructure the monthly mortgage payment).

2)forgive the loan alltogether n we would be responsible just for land taxes.

3)refinance and take out a loan against the house to pay for the overdue and or amount due.(which didnt make much sense to me)

We decided to do #1 and we filled out the paperwork n sent all the documents that they needed.

That was in Dec 2002

They foreclosed our home on April 2 2003, no word except from a lawyer in Bellevue NE(sent a certified letter)saying that the house was going to be foreclosed on this date. I had called this lawyer n stated that I had sent everything that Homeside had needed. She said that it was never recieved.

and at this time they were swiching over to Washington Mutual.

(and i say on the never recieved part,,,, bullshit!)
Then it was sold to HUD, hmm that smells like a skunk to me!

I doubt if we can ever recoup for what happened but i wanted to warn ppl before you go thru HomeSide or Washington Mutual, please check them out first b4 you sign anything, Please!

btw: this incident happened in Lincoln, NE

#4 Consumer Suggestion

There needs to be legislative reform in order to make these companies accountable for their actions

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, December 28, 2003

I, too, was victimized by HSL/WaMu. I lost my home with $20,000 in equity and my career as a Stockbroker because I'm no longer bondable. I fought HSL and continue to fight them. You need to be aware that it's not just HSL/WaMu. It's an industry-wide issue. There needs to be legislative reform in order to make these companies accountable for their actions. Currently, they're allowed to do whatever they want because they have the money, power and weak laws behind them. I hope you read this and contact me through the editor and my email. I'm considering putting together a grassroots effort at reform by compiling signatures and stories of victims of these companies. I need help, though. I'd be willing to head a national team to pursue this course of action, if I can't get at least 6 other people across the country to assist me. It would involve being the regional contact for the collection of these signatures and stories. Are you interested?
