I just want the community in Weston Fl, and any other people who went or plan on going to Hometown Animal Hospital that the are the worst hospital ever and to beaware!! I had to take my cat In for a checkup and to make a long story short ... They quoted me with over $3k for tests to be done ! I decided to get one test done and the result was I needed much more tests to be done ! At this point my cat was in bad shape .. So DR BEllows insisted on a payment plan. After crying and  explaining i have little money can he work and maybe lower some of the bills he didn't care! He said it was more important he has bills to pay than help me save my dying catAthens told me to go get other opinions because he won't help me! As my minutes went on my cat who was dying couldn't get any treatment because I didn't have the money! He and bellows staff only want your $$ not what is In best interest of your pets! They wouldn't let me see my cat until I gave them more money ,, basically holding my cat hostage ! basically my cat had to be put to sleep because they didn't want to try to save him! Horrible place And over charge to the extreme ! Please don't go !! Read other reviews ! they are pet killers and wallet grabbers !stay away .

A horrible veterinarian. Period.

Killed my dog in May 2016. He was just 2 years old. He chipped teeth training. Bellows put him under anesthesia for 6 hours! and then put him in a kennel before he was fully awake. When they realized there was an issue they then took him out of the kennel in panic and call me saying they can't wake my dog up.. Who does this???

Absolutely Disagree with Report

As the owner of a tiny teacup yorkie, I must say that you are sadly mistaken and your comments are frankly offensive. I drive an hour to see these doctors because any vet near my home, which is in a major city with plenty of vets (and I went to 3), would have killed him because they were not professionally equipped. Yes, they may be more expensive than other vets, but they also have state.of the art evaluation equipment, all the way down to the cameras that look into the pets ears. Have you ever heard "you get what you pay for?"

Further, if you are complaining about a VERY old pet, as did another complaint, where were you taking it all of the previous years? I am sure they haven't changed the way they do business. My yorkie, who is just 7 months and a little over 2 pounds has had parasites with uncontrollable diarreah that nobody could cure and he almost died (they cured him), a horrible cough, trauma from a door almost closing on him, a broken elbow from playing in his playpen (where they brought in a specialist to put a pin in his elbow at 1 1/2 lbs), and had to pull 12 teeth because his baby teeth didn't fall out.

They gave him anesthesia 3 separate times in 1 1/2 months and he did fine (if you know anything about tiny dogs, if they do not administer correctly, they die)! I must also argue with your report about how they care for their patients and their only interest being money. You are so wrong. If you can't afford these doctors, find a less expensive one in a less expensive neighborhood that you can afford, but don't bash them. As for the staff, they couldn't be more friendly. When I walk in they know my dogs name without asking (probably because he's a frequent flyer, but still)

EVERY time he had a procedure, I knew what I was going to be charged BEFORE the procedure and signed off on it. They call me to update me on what's happening and the call me to follow his progress. Dr. David Bellows gave me a business card with his cell phone number for Gods sake! Who does that? The office is impeccable, doesn't smell like dirty, smelly animals like others do, and I have watched the way the nurses treat the pets with such kindness. SO, I will repeat, "you get what you pay for."

As with us as humans, do you go to your doctor and ask for extensive medical care and then say you won't pay or it's too expensive after getting care, knowing what it would cost? If you can't pay for a private physician, you go to a public hospital and go on a payment plan. Why should a vet be different? They are doctors, with extensive training and specialties. All I do Is rave about Hometown Animal Hospital when people tell me they don't understand why I need to drive an hour to the vet )for a while it was 2-3 times a week).

My yorkie has cost me a lot of money with all of the things that have happened to him (thank God Dr. Bellows recommended insurance the first time I met him and I listened. I have just had to pay deductibles, office visits, and a small percentage of the bill). I was warned before buying him that things happen when dogs are so small, but my dog is the poster child for why it's good to have insurance! Regardless though, I would still have to pay "a" vet to care for my dog and would never go anywhere else!

The most egregious thing they do at Hometown Animal Hospital is illegally record you in the exam rooms. The tiny sign on the front does not cover what they're doing.  I guarantee 99% of their clients have no idea they're being recorded, especially in the exam room (where there is a reasonable expectation of privacy). My story:

While Dr. McMorran does fine dental surgery, the office has a practice of showing you an estimate and then coming back with an amount 2-3X higher; the disgusting part is they inform you of this increase once your animal is under - leaving a pet owner with little choice.  They told me what my bill would be & that the only added charge would be if they had to keep him under longer than the hour and a half they had already charged for. Then they call while my 16 YO cat was under (last thing Dr. M said was putting him under may kill him) to up the bill almost 3times the orignal amount. When I called to complain, they admit I was not told of that kind of increase and immediately took a nice chunk off the bill. Then I found out that they illegally record you in the office and in the private exam rooms (Audio & Video). Florida is an all-party consent state and I did not give my consent as I didn't know the PRIVATE EXAM rooms were audio recording me. When I went in for my cat's recheck, I complained about all of the above. The office mgr. was extremely rude and threatened to call the police on me for fraud?!! So, what? I planned to not pay a bill amount I didn't know I was getting? He also said I could just have said no to the bill. When I said putting a 16YO cat under & then not doing surgery would be irresponsible, he just shrugged. Plus, there's no explanation as to why a 16YO cat was under for 3 1/2 hours. When I told Dr. Bellows of his mgr's behavior, he said he 'can't be concerned with that'. Both Dr. Bellows and the Office Mgr (Paul) acknowledged that I was not told the bill may increase (outside of anesthesia) - but I should still pay the full amount because they did the work. Finally, Dr. Bellows agreed to charge me the original amount if I 'never stepped foot in his office again'. My cat was not fully healed, so that shows what's priority. This office and Dr. Bellows are a disgrace to the veterinary field. They care more about gouging loving pet owners than actually caring for pets. They allow their office mgr to use bully tactics to try to get paid. I have some documentation to show how they do things. I've also since heard for former patients and seen reviews all complaining about the EXACT SAME THING. Their M.O. is to record you, figure out how much they can charge you, and then hold your animal hostage. Upon reviewing the bill, I realized the original bill didn't even include extractions - which is probably why they don't give you a copy or have you sign the estimate (as most reputable AAHA Accredited offices do). How do you do dental surgery and no give estimates for extractions? They KNEW they were removing teeth and there's nothing on the bill to reflect potential amounts. Their plan from the start is to show you an amount and then inflate it at least 2-fold. Before speaking with me, Dr. Bellows spent at least 10 minutes getting prepped by the Office Mgr. on the bill situation. That's 10 minutes longer than Dr. Bellows spent reviewing my cat's file before coming in the room to do the recheck exam. He called up the file and was looking at it while examining him - asking questions that were in the file. The ONLY thing that matters to Dr. Bellows and his Office Mgr. is making money at the expense of animals. Period.
