Homeward Bound Home Inspections Failed to Provide Follow-up Service and Overlooked Several Issues Waterford Township Michigan

I contracted with Homeward Bound Inspection Services in May of 2018. While it appeared that the inspector was very thorough, there were several things I found within a month of moving in that were obvious, but not found by the inspector (they have a clause in their contract that protects them for these oversights).  While it was not a "pest" inspection, any reputable contractor would have at least mentioned their presence. Several of the electrical plugs in my home do not work (and to make things worse, the inspection report says "all of the receptables were not checked").  I don't know why not! Previous inspectors checked every outlet.  The contractor claimed that he could not check the furnace filter because it was "apparently inaccessible because of how the unit was installed," but my cleaning lady found it in the upstairs wall in plain sight!  Clearly, he was not accustomed to inspecting older homes.

What is the most frustrating thing was the company's offer to come back and reinspect within 30 days of the first inspection.  When I tried to schedule this prior to closing, I was told that someone was only available THAT DAY and no other! I was unable to secure access in such a short time frame. Hence, I they did not provide the follow up inspection they promised which is completing unacceptable. 

In summary, the inspection was very basic. He found little more than I could have found on my own.
