On 6/6/07 we brought our 91 Honda Accord in to have the seatbelt retractor (a recalled part) replaced. We were told it would take 10 days to order the part come back later. On 6/25/07 we returned and dropped off our only vehicle and began renting a car to get to and from work. On 7/02/07 my husband had to call to find out the status of the repair. He was told they were having a hard time fixing the seatbelt, they said the seatbelt rail assembly was fine and they needed to order the electronic part that told the seatbelt to retract. Then on 7/5/07 Orey Herbert, a service rep at Honda Clear Lake, called and it would cost $500.00 to fix it as it was not under "warrenty". On 7/6/07 we contacted the Honda America and spoke with Dean at ext 118143 who assured us it was part of the recall/lifetime warrenty and he contacted Honda of Clear Lake to request they honor the recall. On 7/9/07 we called Honda Clear Lake to request a status update. Mr. Herbert and he said they would have it done on 7/10/07. On 7/11/07 my husband went to pick up the vehicle. He drove off the lot and discovered that nothing on the dash worked. The gas gauge, the RPM gauge, the MPH gauge were all stuck at the max end of their gauges and the car was making a horrible sound. He turned around and brought it back to the dealer. He was told they would fix the dash issues. On 7/16/07 we called them again to find out status and were put through to the Service Manager Brian. He wanted to know if Orey had called, we said no, no one has tried to contact us about the repair status of our vehicle. Brian said they would not repair it because the car was too old and had too many miles on it. On 7/18/07 we were able to contact Dwayne with Honda Clear Lake, Brian's boss and he said 'if you have already talked to Brian, why are you talking to me?'
We have made several attempts to contact the General Manager of Honda Clear Lake and he has not returned any of our calls. We left a voice mail on 7/25, left a message with the receptionist on 7/26 and when we called later that day we were told he was not available.

Since then we have contacted a lawyer, who advised us that we have a case. We have also reported them to the Better Business Buearu. When asked what outcome we would prefer if they were able to mediate for us we told them we just wanted the car in the condition we dropped it off in.
For the last 5 weeks we have rented a car to have transportation. This has cost 240.00 per week.

I understand that a 1991 Honda Accord is not considered a high priority asset to most people. However, this vehicle was paid for, we have just put what we consider a lot of money into the vehicle fixing the fuel pump assembly. Our personal plan was to get the Honda fixed, which is our only means of transporation to work, then fix the van we have that needed to have some work done to pass inspection (it is a '92 Ford Aerostar) then in August, September we planned to purchase a new vehicle. Our son is 16 and should be getting his license soon. We have been very happy with the Honda and wanted to purchase another this fall and then in January 2008 we planned to buy another for my husband.

As it stands now, my family finances have been destroyed due the the irrreponsilble actions of your dealership. As attacks on my family are not tolerated, we will be pursusing all means possible to defend ourselves. We will be reporting this incident to the the Texas Licensing board, the Honda Licensing board and any other consumer groups we can find.
