Paid 2100.00 for an extended warranty for my car. 5 months later the heating system stops working. I figure great it should be completely coved like there brocure said on heating system. I bring it to Curry Honda. Service rep say's "It should be fully covered". I feel even better about buying it. She say's parts will be back by end of the week. I get a call mid week. She say's The parts will be here by Friday but, Honda Warranty center won't approve it until the car heater box is pulled out and inspected.
I say thats not right. If it's a heater box how can it not be covered. She say's they wont to make sure there is no driver error. The first thing that pops in my head is It's a heater box how can there be driver error. Then she confids in me she talked to the service manager and they used to approve these no questions asked But under the bad economy they are going over it with a fine tooth comb. She say's call them. I say OK. I call give them my account ID info and ask the guy why this isn't approved. He says the same thing we wont to make sure you didnt damage it your self. I ask how I could damage it myself. He say's there could be a rodent in it. I say that means thats an engineering flaw. He says we are not responsible for it. He even says there could a leaf in there and we are not going to cover it. I feel like I just got screwed by Honda Warranty service. I wont to sue. Then I find out they have a warranty lawsuit pending. Im buying american from now on. I can't believe this is how they treat there customers. Better yet I will get a lawyer. I will update to let you know how it goes.

please review your vehicle Service contract "exclusions" generally found under the "What is not covered" section. You will very likely see the industry standard exclusions pertaining to specifically covered components such as, but not limited to: Rust/Corrosion, blockage/restriction, rodents, leaves- all outside influences. Your VSC may list a heater core as a covered component, however since it's located behind the dash-board, and out of sight, dis-assembly is required in order determine the actual cause of failure. Once the actual cause of failure is determined- at your expense, then the claims adjuster can move forward in determination of coverage. This is something that your attorney cannot do for you, but he may, at your expense, read this clause of the contract for you.
Upon determination of the actual cause of failure, if it's an material failure of the heater core, with no outside influence, then Honda will include in the replacement labor time, the initial labor authorized by you, and other than paying for the hazardous waste, your deductible (if any) and possibly sales taxes, you will be on the road again.
