Hoosier lottery False odds of winning on scratch offs Indianapolis Indiana
*General Comment: Your math is incorrect
For a few months now I'd buy scrarch off tickets which I've done for 10+ years now I've won some I've lost some no big deal but this past month I've not won not even once and I've got 1 extra ticket than the odds say which should be at least 1 winning ticket but not even one!!!! im not concerned about the losing but if your odds are 1:4.68 than u should have at least 1 winning ticket if u buy 6!!! If the odds are 1 in 5 rounded up I'll buy 6 if their 1 in 3 I'll buy 4 and so on so forth!! And it's not certain tickets I've played 9 different types and none have won!!! Total this past month I've lost $197 and have won a total of $0!!!

In your own words, let's say that the overall odds of winning a prize is 1 in 5. In theory, if you buy 6 tickets, then one of them should be a winner. But the key words are "should be". Just for the sake of arguement, let's say that the Hoosier lottery made 100 tickets of a particular scratcher with 1 in 5 odds. That means that only 20 tickets will be some sort of winner. So, a person could theoretically buy 80 tickets and not a single one be a winner. But then 20 people could buy one of the each remaining tickets and be a winner. So you can see on how winning a prize could be 1 in 5, but it does not mean that you will win a prize if you bought 5, or even 80 tickets.
