Hostmonster.com upgraded my service from "web hosting plan" at my original sign up price at $142.20 for 3 years in 2010 to $251.64 in 2013, then WITHOUT MY CONSENT, they upgraded my service to "plus hosting" at $395.64 in 2016. During this process, my website is also down, and likely for a long time since I haven’t check the site for a while. I called technical service, they could not identify the problem, saying it should not happen since my website hasn’t been changed since I uploaded, and it was working well before.

I asked to speak to a supervisor about the billing, the phone was dropped after wait for a long time. I had to call back, waited a long time, and finally spoke to James, Supervisor of customer loyalty team. James claimed that they sent emails to customer about the upgrade. When I asked him when was the notification email sent, James give me two dates (5/3/16 and 6/2/16) the email were sent. I found both emails, which both only telling me how many dates my hosting will expire, with no mentioning of "upgrading service". I asked him if there is a specific email from them, he now changed his story saying I agree to their agreement when I signed up, they have rights to raise price anytime.

I read their user agreement, there is only mentioning of ending promotional price, there is no mention they can change the PLAN that I signed up for as a simple “Web Hosting” to an upgraded “PLUS Hosting” without my consent. I asked if he can refund me the extra charges that I never agree to since 2016, James refused other than saying if I cancel, I will get the rest of months back, but not the extra charges I paid since last year. So basically I paid $395.64 for 3 years for a site that was broken.
