When I arrived with my dad in the Cancun airport we were walking out of customs and before we could get to the exit door we were approached asking if we needed a taxi. We replied that we did and a man named Michael said he could give us discounts for a shuttle van and for vacation ecursions. He said everything was legite because it was part of the Mexico Better Business Bureau.
They took us to the Krystal Resort for breakfast and said we had to attend a 90 min presentation. We went through the presentation and then a guide took us upstairs to a conference room to meet a Dalllas Cowboys football player Rafael Septien. Rafael started a high pressure sales tatic to sell us a once in a lifetime opportunity time share.
He said that it would pay for itself. He approved us for a $15,000 loan through Bank of America and said that we would only have to pay for the interest rate of 3% for 6 months and that in Setember of 2009 I would receive a $15,000 check to pay off the credit card and then by September 2010 I would recieve a check of $10,000 and another check of $10,000 in September 2011 that would all be profit of renting out the time share.
Rafael said the resort was currently under rennovations and that it would be completed in a couple of weeks. He said that the weeks would sell guaranteed that all of their previous weeks have always been successfully rented out. It has been three months since I stupidly signed up for this "once in a lifetime investment" and I have not heard from anyone about my vacation weeks selling. Instead I have to make payments on the Bank of America Credit Card and when I tried to contact the broker that was said to already be setup for me they said I have to pay $661 plus maintenence fees in order to start to "try " to sell the vacation weeks. He said that nothing was guaranteed. Well this information scared me because I was already charged $15,000 on a credit card that was suppose to include everything and now I was being told that I have to pay more money.
I have tried to contact Ray Rubio who was the person with Rafael that went over the investment with me and I can not get him to respond. After much speculation I typed in vacation rentals with Rafael Septien and I found out how so many other people were scammed by these individuals. I am very scarred and I now have to find out what I can do to get out of this scam.
