HOTMOVIESALE.COM (HMS) HIDDEN CHARGES Boca Raton Florida

I purchased a DVD set from Hotmoviesale (or HMS www.hotmoviesale.com, Contact: SmartSavingsCenter, LLC, DBA HotMovieSale, PO Box 810365, Boca Raton, FL, 33481-0365, Phone: 866-566-8437) on June 30, 2009 and paid for the purchase in full using my credit card. Though, on July 4, 2009 I was charged $19.95 and on Aug 3, 2009 I was charged another $19.95. I only discovered the charges when reviewing my credit card statements.

I called the company (866 5668437) and the company representative said I agreed to subscribe to their membership at the time I made the purchase. The monthly membership fee is $19.95. The representative said I received a $5 discount for my order on the condition that I agree to subscribe to their membership. I did not see any requirement about membership subscription at the time I placed the order. They bury it somewhere and never notify me.

The representative also said they sent me an email about 3-day free trial membership. However, I did not receive any email like that. The only emails that I received are two emails about order confirmation and shipping. After I called, the company cancelled my membership and refunded me the fee for August but I still have to pay $19.95 for July.

This is an unfair practice. The company (HMS) hide the membership requirement and later silently charge for it. This fraudulent way of doing business should be investigated and stopped. They make you think you are getting a deal but you end up paying much more. I will never buy anything from this company again.
