My payment was due on June 5. When I went to make an online payment on June 4, a box kept popping up saying that I needed to make a rush payment or I would be late. I double checked all information, including the schedule listed by the company which outlined when online payments would be received and I was in compliance. I opted not to make this "rush payment" and continued as normal. Needless-to-say, when I checked the status of my payment the next day, I had been assessed a $35 late fee.

When I called to complain to the company, a customer service representative said that I was late and there was nothing she could do. According to her records, my payment was due on June 5. I said to her, "I made my payment on June 4!". She became silent and stammered a bit after realizing that my payment indeed had been submitted the day before. She then continued that the company advises customers to make their payments three or four days in advance if paying online. I said that this was outrageous and I wanted to speak to a supervisor. I was put on hold for thirty minutes.

I attempted several times throughout the day to contact someone and my calls were never answered.

I have begun email correspondence with this company and I have been given the same information. Not only that, the due date for my payment has now changed from June 5 to June 4.

Online payments...

AUTHOR: Duane - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, June 07, 2007

....can be scheduled to post on specific dates, so that setting up your payment is easy.

What time of day did you make your online payment on 6/4? Two business days are needed for "standard" or "regular" payments. When you go to their website to your account, and then select MAKE A PYAMENT you are given options on how you want to make your online payment. You are also able to click on a link "View Payment Timetable" which will show you when your payments would post. Also, if you click on the "?" icon next to each payment type it will give you specific info on each type. For example, a standard payment states "Standard Payment
Our FREE Standard Payment is a one-time payment that requires up to 2 business days to process. There is no fee for a standard payment."

Obviously, the computer was calculating when your payment would post and was trying to prompt you to make a "rush payment". Had you selected that option, it would have cost you 12.95 instead of $35.00. Plus you now have a "late payment" mark on your credit report.

After you completed your payment tranasction you were given a summary page that had the date and time on it as well as to how much you were paying and a confirmation code. You should always print this out in case you need it.

In the future - plan ahead. schedule your payments early....you can tell them when to post the payment, and it doesnt come out of your bank account until then. After every online payment, print the confirmation page.
