I recently dealth with an Auto Dealer from New Caney, TX on a 2000 F250 truck.  The truck was first listed with Ebay.  On the listing, an inspection report claimed the truck and truck systems were all in good working repair.

When I contacted the seller, Houtex Auto Group, "Ryan" told me the truck was in great shape.  When ansering direct questions about the 4 wheel drive operation, the interior and any leaks, his reponse was, "the truck is in great shape, no leaks, the 4 wheel drive works and the only thing that needs attention was the clock spring in the steering colum for the air bag light".

He then requested we do the transaction off of ebay to avoid any fees from ebay or paypal.  He reassured me he could give me a better deal with shipping that way.  Turns out, this violates ebay terms and conditions, and his seller status could be revoked.

When the truck arrived, it would only start in neutral, both batteries failed load tests and needed to be replaced, the left 4 wheeel drive hub was locked and wouldn't function, the left headlight was busted out, the steering stabilizer shock was gone, the icp pigtail was frayed and needed to be fixed, there was no muffler, both battery hold downs were gone, the junction box cover was gone, had the wrong right tire hub, the front axle seals were wet, indicating some leakage....the wrapped up quote to fix what was wrong ~$5300, to only fix what I needed to make it road safe was ~$1300.

The inspection report posted on the auction that I reviewed was completely misleading on the condition of the vehicle, as well as statements made by the seller.  Seller will not return calls, will not return emails will not discuss this issue any further, and has made no attempt at even trying to come to a fair compromise on the condtion of the vehicle.

Question for the op

I may be old fashioned, but why would you go on ebay and purchase a truck, sight unseen?  Are there no used trucks in Wisconsin?

In this day and age you would have to be crazy to trust someone you have never met with your money to purchase something you have never seen.

I wont even buy clothes online, I want to SEE them first.
