Houston Ford Fraudulent use of CARFAX Report Pine River Minnesota

 While on vacation in Minnesota, my transmission went out so I went to the nearest Ford Dealership to purchase a used Ford Escape on July, 3rd 2014.  I Stoped into Houston Ford and was interested in a 2013 Ford Escape.  They had an price of $23956.

I test drove the this Escape and went into the sales office with my sales person.  I asked to see the Carfax, sales left the room and came back a few minutes later.  Put the report on the desk and pointed to the Adjusted retail value of $24,410.  I then agreed to purchase the car for $23,956.

When I got home on July 7th, 2014 I noticed that the Carfax report was 4 months old, it was for a 2013 Ford Escape, but it had a different VIN number.  So I ordered my own Carfax report and discovered the Retail Book Value was $21,772, a difference of $2,184 more than my vehicle was worth.  I expected that the salesman was printing out a new report when he left the office, not looking for any report that would support their asking price.

I did email the sales mand and two of their sales managers and did not get a reply.  The next day I called the sales manager and he was sorry, but he was not going to make it right.  I contacted consumer affairs at Carfax and told them how they used the carfax report and they suggested I contact my State Attorney Generals office.  Which I did, they sent Houston Ford a letter on 8/1/14.  Houston Ford has not replied back, but it does not look like they will step up to the plate and refund my over payment.
