HP Consulting, Inc YCA (Youth Contest Award Program) Youth Scholarship Scam, Charity Scam, Magazines for Soldiers, Cash or Check Only Marmora, NJ New Jersey

Be forewarned:  YCA is a for profit business that seems only to consist of door-to-door sales under the premise of a youth scholarship program, and HP Consulting, Inc is a for-profit parent company.  If you are on the market for ordering highly overpriced goods from a laminated sales sheet & putting money into the pockets of these young sales associates and their parent company without a guarantee that a product will be delivered to you (or your charity of choice), then by all means do business with these door-to-door young people.   

My experience:

Two young people between the ages of 18-22 came to my door with laminated "sales sheets" citing a Youth Scholarship Award Program through a parent company, HP Consulting, Inc.  Their stories concerning their sales & goals were inconsistent.  They cited having to do public speaking door-to-door as part of their scholarship contest.  (They never gave a speech). They asked for my personal information without a sale.

They tried to manipulate and guilt me into buying highly overpriced magazine subscriptions for US Military officers stationed overseas.  $45 dollars for the magazine subscription, $20 for the magazine and $25 for the '"scholarship fund." Both sound like charitable causes, but the company is explicitly for-profit.  I found this out when I insisted on looking the company up online.  They typed in the web address for me and brought up a website for HP Consulting that lacked details (a google search instantly revealed the scam).

These kids are selling highly overpriced items door-to-door to make money, and they have been trained to manipulate people into buying these products.  The "scholarship" program seems very questionable as well.  

Their verbal presentation had a lot of holes.  Their website, with its nebulous descriptions of the YCA program, seems not to legitimize any of their presentation.   They do not give any information as to how or whether their products ever make it to the troops.  The kids had no paperwork other than the laminated product sheets; nothing to keep in hand to look them up or contact the company after a door solication or sales transaction.  

They would only take cash or check.  

They only do money business via mail, according to their website.  

I am highly incredulous of this kind of presentation.  Stinks of fraud.  I did not order anything, and I called the police to report fraudulent door-to-door sales in my neighborhood.
