I bought a HP Officejet J4540 All in one printer fax in December 2008, at first it worked fine, Now when I go to print It seems like it is trying to print but it never do. I talked to about 8 tech support on the hp support web site, each person telling me what to do. I tried every thing that they emailed and told me and it still do not work. I took the printer back to the store where I bought it and the worker looked at it in the Electronics dept He also fix computers and printers and after looking at the printer he told me it seems like a malfunction in the printer. even one of the hp support staff I talked to said the same thing. I keep asking where can I take the printer to get replace or for hp to send me another one, but each time I email support they keep giving me trouble shoot information. I tried every thing that they been telling me to do and it still dont work. I will never buy from Hp again. I thought Hewlett-Packard Company was a name I could trust but I see that it is not... so be careful before buying from here

Hewlett Packard Company Used to be GOOD

John,
HP used to be a great company, the optimum word is USED TO BE. I have been in the computer industry for as many years john, but when they farmed out their customer service to India, they allowed them to make all the decisions. I had an HP 9800 printer that was replaced 5 times, and after that many times I ask only for a refund. The case manager in India said I was not entitled to a refund. These printers never lasted over 45 days, the last one printed 3 days and they all broke for the same reason. When I was told I was not entitled to a refund, I sued them, and they quickly sent me a check for $ 5000.00, but I was not satisfied, I wanted them to admit they were at fault and demanded a letter of apology. I have now received the letter and the check and have closed this case. My point is John, just because you think they are fabulous and you have not had a problem, don't tell those of us that have had problems they are great.

HP IS A GOOD COMPANY WITH GOOD PRINTERS

I've used HP Products for 20 years now, and the only thing I've ever had problems with is this HP J4540. I understand that it is a "special" model manufactured for Walmart. Walmart guarantees their own products; it does not go through HP.
Which retail store did you buy it from? I've had to take one of these back for a friend of mine (told her not to buy) and Walmart exchanged it, no questions asked. The new one has been working just fine. Another gal I know also bought this printer (because of the low price) and it's been working just fine.
Trouble is, this is a VERY LIGHT USE home All-In-One machine. It is NOT suitable for an office or student doing alot of work on it.
I do not work for, nor have I ever worked for, HP. Just been on computers and networks, equipment, etc. for about 30 years now.
I would caution anyone against buying ANY computer/printer from Walmart. Apparently, they are configured "differently" for Walmart, which is why the cost is less. READ THE FINE PRINT to make sure what you are getting.
