We moved to Saltillo in August of 2009. We had limited options of internet providers. AT&T offered a card but we never had service and later discovered we had no 3G in our area making that sale irrelevant.

We chose Hughesnet after a lot of deliberation waiting for something to come along.. We contacted hughesnet after receiving mail offering free installation and the best service available.. They recommended we go with the business dish as it never loses signal and we had two doing online classes and myself running a business offline that deals a lot with my website, pictures and emails. We already had equipment on the house for family dish but after they assured us it would be better to go business with as much as we use the internet, we chose to let them install the larger dish.

They sent one man out, took him a while to install and he ran the cable across the front of our gate that we can no longer open now.

They took credit card info on phone but were assured we would not be charged as it was free installation offer thru mail. We were charged however, activation fee the day prior to hookup..

The first bill was twice what it was supposed to be and the second bill wasnt even a whole months worth of service.

Finally we had our internet and began to try and use it. Unfortunately for us, we rarely could get on or it was very slow. Once on we got constant notification of web acceleration errors of different code numbers. Or we got satellite link outage notice.

I am constantly kicked off my website when trying to publish it and can rarely send or receive pictures to make sales. After constant notice of email errors while trying to respond to inquiries, and a year lost of XBOX Live as we never could connect to that this whole time with hughesnet we called to cancel service after many, many complaints. One rep on the phone said the reason we had poor service was either bad weather in Mississippi or in Maryland where servers are. He also said we had exceeded our fair share time allowed and now time was given to someone else. He said he reset it for us and when it happens again we had to call to continually reset it to have time on the internet.

This fair time and reset issue was not in our contract and the rep agreed. We called to finally end service and the rep at that time agreed to cancel if they could not get us working properly with NO fee involved. There are several months where their remedy for us not having service was to refund our bill by portioned amounts. The bill averages $130 per month for the business dish.

They could not get us satisfactory service and said they would disconnect and sent out notice it was going to happen. We had to first fax a letter to them on business letterhead explaining all our issues and requesting disconnect in order for there to be no fee. This was sent on March 8, 2010. But they never interrupted service. When my husband called, the rep said it was off and we were getting charged $800 disconnect fee. We argued that, and he said to turn it back on would be another $30 fee. It had never went off but they charged us. This $800 fee was never quoted us when we started service. We were told $200 after rebate. But now were are informed that was for family dish not business that they insisted we needed with our internet activity.

So here we are, I am kicked off the internet as I type this and cant check emails for sales, lost the money spent on a year XBOX live, lost sales as I couldnt respond to inquiries, cant update my site to initiate sales, and my husband had seven or so months of staying late at work or going to a friends house to do his homework for his online college classes and my daughter as well. Thankfully, his counselors were very understanding of our internet issues and many gave him more time to get his work in, though some did not resulting in lower grade. Many times they were out till late hours doing work that they should have been able to do at home. I have had to lower kitten prices as kittens have sat here longer as it is hard to sell kittens people cant see.

We have had opportunity to get better service from a different provider but need to resolve this with Hughesnet and get service disabled at no further cost to us as I believe we have lost a lot already.
