Hulu Unauthorized Charge! Internet
*Consumer Suggestion: Fraudulent Charge
*Consumer Suggestion: had this very same prob with hulu. Here's how to deal.
I noticed a charge on my credit card for 7.99 for Hulu that I did not purchase. Upon further investigation I realized I was not the only one who was charged the same price for the same company. I was able to cancel this but now I have to call the bank to file a fraudulent charge and request a new card. How did this company get my bank card number? I just wanted to file this report in case this happens to someone else. There's already been a lot of complaints on hulus website. Jessica, Evansville, IN.

Fraudulent Charge

An account was fraudulently opened using my old credit card number. If you receive a fraudulent charge, make sure that Hulu blacklists your current credit card number to help prevent any further fradulent charge. Unfortunately, the first customer service representative failed to do his due deligence to blacklist my card number. The second customer service representative seemed to take the correct steps to have my number blacklisted to help prevent fraudulent charges.
To prevent online companies from pulling new credit card info, I highly recommend using a temporary credit card number that is linked to your main card number. That way, you can delete and close your temporary credit card at any time from your account page. Most importantly, have them blacklist your card to help prevent any further fradulent charges and call your bank to secure a new credit card.

Hulu pulled this exact same shennanigan on me twice. First time I was nice as can be on the chat line with the rep. They cancelled the phony account, but wouldn't provide me with the name of the fraudster who stole from me. I figured "let it go - just an aberration - never happen a 2nd time. Then a few days later it did. This time I got a bit terse ith the chat rep. Nothing too rough - just a touch vinegar. to get his attention. I asked him if it was company policy to take card numbers without a CVV number for verification. He tried to slip out of it by telling me I'd have to "take it up wit my card issuer" I replied I needed to take it up with HIM as my card issuer wouldn't know HULU'S policies regarding credit/debit cards. I'm fairly certain the caps usage relayed my growing irritation. He apologized & killedthe 2nd acct. I the instructed him to delete any data regarding my card & he agreed to that as well. Fingers crossed, there hasn't been a repeat in a couple of days. Sometimes you gotta pull a tight edge with these people, using caps as necessary in order to express your dissatisfaction. Remember to insist on your card data being deleted from their files. Hope this helps.
