False & Fraudulent Advertising and Discount Offer

Hurricane Drain promoted a false and fraudulent discount offer on their website and other advertising.

I had a plumbing problem and chose Hurricane Drain to do the work. One of the reasons I selected them was because their advertising and website stated they offer a discount for "AAA" Colorado Members. http://www.colorado.aaa.com/. I am a AAA member and was glad to see the discount offered. Hurricane Drain displayed the AAA logo under discounts on their home page and throughout their website.

After I had the plumbing work done, I mentioned to the plumber at my house to apply the AAA Discount to the bill. The plumber stated he didn't know anything about a AAA discount offer. I contacted Hurricane Drain's office and was told the discount was already included - this was entirely false because I hadn't even told them to apply the discount and showed my AAA membership card yet. The customer service rep never returned my call after I requested the AAA discount.

I contacted the AAA Colorado office and told them about my situation with Hurricane Drain refusing to provide me with the AAA discount they advertised on their website and elsewhere. The AAA representative discovered that Hurricane Drain was not part of the AAA Discount program, was not a AAA member, and was falsely advertising a AAA discount, and was illegally displayed the AAA Discount logo on their website and print advertising.

The AAA legal division immediately contacted Hurricane Drain with a letter with a cease and decist order to remove the fraudulent advertising about a AAA discount, and the AAA logo from their website and print advertising immediately.

After this, Hurricane Drain still refused to provide me with the discount they had advertised. My complaint was also reported to Tom Martino's Troubleshooter Network because Hurricane Drain was a member at the time. Hurricane Drain has since been removed from Tom Martino's list of preferred providers.

I would not recommend Hurricane Drain to any customer after this ripoff experience. I can only wonder how many other people were "ripped off" by Hurricane Drain with this false and fraudulent advertising.
