I purchased a 2010 Hyundai Elantra about a year ago. From the beginning the car had mechanical issues. However, it was still under Hyundai Factory Warranty. First, the car is automatic, but the transmission seemed like it was struggling to change gears. Since I had an extended warranty also, I took it to be checked out at AAMCO(the transmission experts). AAMCO recommended the transmission be replaced. Next, I took it to Serra Hyundai of Birmingham, Alabama. They claimed it was the transmission adaptive switch and replaced. Well, after picking up the car, 2 or 3 miles down the road it was doing same old struggling to shift.

So, I decided to take it to another Hyundai service center. Shockingly, the mechanic at Hyundai of Gadsden Alabama showed me the switch replaced from Serra Hyundai. It was twice as big as the correct one. So, they replaced it. Mechanic test drove and it was still shifting slowly. Then, mechanic stated it needed a new transmission. After a couple weeks, I got the car back. Guess what? Yes, it was still not shifting correctly and steering wheel seemed loose. Took it back to Hyundai of Gadsden and then they replaced a coil pack. After this, the transmission shifted fine, but the steering wheel was still loose feeling and the EPS light came on. I called back to service center and made an appointment. Before the day of the appointment, I ended up in hospital.

I ccalled the service center and told them about being in hospital and they assured me they would note this in computer and to call when I could take car in. Well, after I was better I called them back. This time they were rude to me and denied I ever called or had a follow up appointment. The, the service manager instructed me to take it to nearest shop and have it put on lift. The mechanic discovered that the four rack-and-pinion bolts were all 4 loose. This is where the hassle and despair starts, belive it or not! After speaking with several people at several different departments at Hyundai Motor U.S.A., my car is worse than before. I had to buy new tires and pay for alignment. Hyundai refuses to help me. Please someone help!!!!
