Icon Tyler Research Agency Daniel Reed Scam, Mystery Shopper Scam Columbus , Ohio

 I recieved this letter in the mail that only had my name and address on it, no return address, which was very weird to me to begin with. When I opened said letter, inside was a letter from the Icon Tyler Research Agency stating that I had been selected to participate in a paid Consumer Research Program for their company. Also inside of the envelope was a check made out to me for $2,600. In the letter there was a break down of how the funds were to be divided; 1. Your pay check for the evaluation $400.00 2. Funds needed for the shopping at wal_mart $100.00 3. Fund needed for shopping at home depot/k-mart/sears... $2,100.00. Then at the bottom of the letter there was a note saying, 'Please call before depositing your check into your bank for funds activation. Request to speak with DANIEL REED on 1-438-993-2521. Mon-Fri 9am-10pm & Sat 9am-5pm EST. This offer will expire on April 20, 2013. Fax  your Market Evaluation Form to 1-866-655-8296. On the back of the letter was a form you were to be faxing in after you had finished your research, with the word 'confidential' stamped across of the paper. So when I called this 'Daniel Reed', he barely spoke english, or I just couldnt understand through his accent, and he kept telling me that I had to get a green dot money card to put the $2,100.00 on and then give him the account information so that he could add more funds to it as I completed each research assignment.

      All in All... TOTAL SCAM.... just be careful. I never sent in a requerst for this to start off with, nor would ANY company just send something like this to you in the mail with a check that size not knowing anything about you...
