I bought a vehicle from them, and paid $550 down, plus $350 for tax, tag and title. I got in May, Its August, and the thing still won't pass emissions. They have been doing a little tweaking on the engine, and charging me for the work, allegedly adding it to the total bill. I have yet to see any documentation of the work that was supposedly done. I've been driving it illegally because I need a car, and I can't afford on another down payment on a car that I can drive legally right now. I was charged $350 for tax, tag and title...So, where is my tag and title? I couldn't get it because of the emissions and they KNEW IT. The vehicle had failed previous emissions tests before I got it.
The last straw came when I was due for a payment. I was a little short, but I showed up with the money, but asked if they would let me skip that one, but make a payment and a half for the next 2 payments. They agreed as long as I gave them post dated checks for the amount as collateral. I did, and showed up on the agreed dates to pay cash...which I did, and I have the receipts for the payments. But the second payment and a half, they mysteriously couldnt find my check. I asked them to rip up the check if they did find it. They said they would, but mentioned that I owed other payments. I asked the woman in the office what it was, and she had no idea since I paid both payments and half payments. And, I was told that I would have to speak to the owner about the check. I tried several times to call, but he "wasn't there."
They put the second check through AFTER I paid them, and caused my bank account to go in the negative. I tried to call, and was told again that I needed to talk to the owner, who of course was not in. He wasn't in the day I made the second payment and a half either, and my check was not at the office for them to give back to me. When I got upset, the woman who answered the phone got a serious attitude with me, as if I didn't have a right to be upset.
This experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. Save yourself the aggravation that I'm going through, and if you're going to get a car from a buy here pay here lot, make sure the vehicle can pass emissions BEFORE you give them any money. I've called several other dealerships, and most legitimate ones guarantee that their vehicles will pass emissions...One of them told me that tax tag and title is included in the down payment, and they thought it was ridiculous to insist on paying an additional $350 for TT&T on top of the down payment.
I took the vehicle back to them, and once again, no management or owner were there. I got a written statement saying that I dropped the vehicle off to them, as well as a photocopy of my payment ledger, as well as all my receipts. I think that I should be refunded my $350 for tag and title which I never got, but considering the way they conducted business thus far, it would be an even bigger headache.
I bought a very nice vehicle from Easy Auto on Ringold Rd, which passed emissions before I got it, and they paid for me to take it to a mechanic of my choice to have it looked over. There were a couple minor maintenance issues with it, but the mechanic told me it was in very good shape. And, they are paying to have those issues fixed. Want a good vehicle? Go there. They are very good people who actually care about not only their reputations, but they care about their customers too.
Ideal Motors? Not so much. I'd recommend a root canal with a screwdriver before I'd recommend that someone go to them.
