My truck was towed today, on mother's day for not having a permit while the permit was visible. The security guard at my apartment complex is a witness to this.

I called into ideal towing's dispatch to have them check my vehicle for the parking permit sticker. Dispatch had their driver, Jesus Castillo call me back to report on wether or not he could find the sticker. He told me that he had seen the sticker on the dash when he towed the car, it was towed because in his words "the sticker was barely visible". The sticker was placed on the dash last night in plain view when my vehicle was parked. He claimed that since he had to stand up on the parking block to see into the window that it "doesn't count" and therefore was "barely visible" by his definition. It's a truck... It's tall...

He then went on to tell me that even though he'd seen the sticker and the car wasn't illegally parked nor was there a notice put on the window that he still was not bringing the vehicle back. He was very unprofessional and rude about it. I don't understand how it's my fault that he didn't see my permit as it was visible and in plain sight. His problem was that it wasn't stuck to the windshield. My lease agreement details no such thing just that it must be in plain sight in the front windshield and it was. So why did he feel the need to illegally tow my vehicle on mother's day? Money is my guess.

Next I got in touch with the supervisor, Matt. He was very nice and personable and had taken the time out to personally call me on his off day to discuss the situation with my vehicle. I told him the situation and he immediately came up with a solution, he told me he would not have them bring it back because that would be too much of a hassle for his driver (in my opinion he should have made his driver bring it back as punishment for not being thorough when checking for the permit that he admitted to seeing in the first place!) but that he would put a no charge on my truck and gave me 24 hours to come and pick it up.

Hopefully we won't be having anymore issues with this company, (mainly the incompetence of their drivers) as they are contracted out to our apartment complex. This whole thing has been one big nightmare and definitely a mother's day I'd like to forget. And remember incompetence and attitudes get you nowhere. Jesus will not be getting the credit for towing our vehicle all he did was waste his time being nasty and unprofessional. You catch more flies with honey, Jesus. There are plenty of other vehicles here in this apartment complex that do not have permits or do not belong, why were we singled out? Catch someone who actually IS violating the terms. I pay $700 a month to live here, I should be treated as such.

"On dash in plain view" = still applied to backing paper and stuffed down in the windshield so that less than 1/2" of it is visible above the dash, making it nearly impossible to tell it's a permit.  Looks more like a parking lot or valet stub.

Please see photo of vehicle before it was towed: evidence photo (hosted on imgur.com, no personal information is included in the photo)

"Incompetence of their drivers" = a large claim to make based on one experience with one driver and one tow that was at least partially your fault for not clearly displaying your permit.

When you stack the odds against the driver by not clearly displaying a permit you're likely to be towed.  In the end it worked out for you as the vehicle was no-charged and all you suffered was some minor inconvenience to pick it up at the nearby storage lot, less than 4 miles from the apartments, which hardly qualifies as "one big nightmare" in reality.

In a perfect world, no, your vehicle would not have been towed.  It would have also clearly displayed the permit as the other legitimately parked vehicles on the property do.
