Purchase a 4 month old puppy from Irakus Great Dane's owner Claudia Ortega. Received a puppy that was in her words "PERFECT". Puppy when received at airport had full blown CHERRY EYE in one eye and what looked like the start in other eye and weakness with a knocked knee effect in the hind quarters.Puppy was immediately taken to a well known Vet and previous Great Dane Kennel owner. Vet shook his head in discussed at condition of puppy. After X-rays, puppy was diagnosed as having EPIPHYSITIS OF THE HIND QUARTERS. 

 Second check-up at my general Vet found puppy had DEMODECTIC MANGE (MITES EATING HAIR FOLICLES) that is passed on by parent which requires multiple poison dips and antibiotics. this was previously reported by another puppy buyer.   

 Eye surgery was needed by Optometris to repair eyes. During surgery on both eyes it was discovered that the one eye had the GLAND and THIRD EYELID cutout rather than repaired. Another deceit that was not shared during initial purchase process. Both Doctors called that procedure BARBARIC in today's medical practices. I was promised restitution for the $1200.00 for the Vet bills after next litter. That was in September of 2012. Excuse after excuse and finally no response to emails,texts or calls.

Since the initial medical bills ,the puppy has had to endure more eye surgery. I have waited this long to file a report due to trying to give Claudia a chance in proving her claim of integrity. This has not happened, so I have no choice but to share my problem. Legal action is still in the works, but a judgement payment would be hard to collect and these people know it. I have heard all the excuses of poverty ,but they continue to purchase breeding stock. Texas law allows Small Claim Suits for up to $10,000.00 and a statue of Limitations of 2 years for anyone interested. 

Bottom line is that she was more interested in selling puppies that she could not sell honestly and decided that money was more important then her integrity. Another fact of interest to purchasers is her pictures do not represent the true size of her puppies. She is very good in photography as another ploy of sales. 

My review is fully backed by email and text from Claudia and all vet billing records are available. My Optometris has offered many times to engage in conversation with Claudia, but the offer has not been accepted.

The money is not the main importance of this report. I spent $2700.00 on the puppy and another $3000.00 on medical bills. I no longer expect to receive any reimbursement from Claudia, but I will continue to spend my time to ensure that prospective buyers are fully aware of the integrity of this kennel's owners. I live in Florida and I guess she figured it was to far for a person to pursue a problem. But this problem is not going to go away. The only good thing about this whole situation is that my puppy was not left in her hands to live a life of neglect.

 I made a mistake that is a golden rule when purchasing an expensive puppy by not going to see the puppy first hand. Most Breeders highly recommend this prior to sale.

I have not seen any high on a pedestal response from the kennel on any recent complaints, but if and when they come I will back mine up with the truth. I welcome any inquires for more details and information.

 Just to be straight and forward with this report this was my second puppy bought from Claudia. I bought a puppy for $4000.00 that was 2 months of age. She is a healthy two year old as of today. When I received her she looked nothing in size to her pictures on the web. This is how I can comment on the photography skills.

 All puppies can become sick or problems can occur after the purchase and this is a chance we all take with pets. This whole situation is about the deceit and lying to make a purchase. I am a trusting person and hold my integrity to the highest level. Unfortunately I let my guard down and found out others do not. BEWARE and do not learn the same lesson!!
