An unauthorized $15.70 ($14.95 + 0.75 tax) charge for "American eVoice Vmail Monthly Fee" appeared on my Verizon bill this month. The charge was billed by ILD Teleservices. Upon calling the 800-433-4518 phone number listed for ILD, I was passed through to American eVoice.
They stated that I had signed up through a website for "Media Shapers" (mentioned in several other rip-off reports on this site) which I have never visited and have never heard of before.
The customer service rep stated that I would be credited with the amount and the fraudulent account would be closed with no further charges accruing.
Be SURE to check your phone bill EVERY month! This is the second such incident on my Verizon bill this year! This third- and fourth-party billing makes con games such as this one far too easy to perpetrate and should be illegal. Verizon, AT&T, et al, should not be allowed to post ANY third-party charges unless expressly authorized by the customer.
WRITE YOUR CONGRESSIONAL REPRESENTATIVES AND DEMAND THIS SITUATION BE RECTIFIED!!!
