My 12 week old puppy was sent to me with pneumonia. My primary vet had him on multiple medications that were really working and you could tell in his demeanor. Our vet warned us that if he stops eating, something is wrong.
On Sunday morning, he stopped eating. Since our vet was closed, we decided to take him to the IVEC Beech Grove Emergency Vet. We got to the vet and had to agree to an 85.00 fee just to get back to a room. They took my dog back to get his breathing stable and to get an xray.
The vet tech told us that one of the three antibiotics may have gone bad. The vet tech looked at us like we were bad pet owners because we did not know this. They did not seem that worried about it though.
When the doctor came in, we were shown a 5,000 dollar bill for a procedure that was needed to be done. We had to agree and put a deposit down before they would continue to care for our dog. They looked at us like they were going to say pay up or get out. The vet said that he would have to stay over night a few nights for this procedure.
We went back to see him before we left the office and I was suprised when I saw him in a FISH TANK!! with a tube connected to it. He wagged his tail when we said goodbye. We left the office very nervous about the situation, but hopeful.
We reached our home and within 20-30 minutes, the office called stating that it this was an emergency call and that we needed to get back to the office because he was in respiratory distress.
We rushed back to the office and were brought back into a waiting room without being told anything. The vet finally came in and told us that they couldn't pull him out of it and that he died!! After paying almost 600.00, our dog sat in a FISH TANK!! before going into distress. What was it that we paid for again??
We had a horrible experience with this vet and felt that before they helped us at all, they had to have their money. We had to put a deposit down 3 times. We still don't know what we paid for, but we were so distressed because of the situation that we just paid it without asking questions.
The female vet that helped up was very rude and was annoyed when we asked her questions about how she does the procedure. I wrote this report so that I could tell everyone about our experience. Please be aware of this and remember my story before chosing to bring your animals to this vet. Also, I want to remind people to do their research before putting your animals lives in just any vets hands. I made a terrible mistake in not doing my research and now I have to live with the consequences.
