I purchased used G35X and love the car. After a year and less than 12000 miles the air bag light kept coming on. I kept taking it to a non dealer repair shop (much cheaper) and they told me there was no problem it must be a short in the harness. Shortly after that in May 2010 a recall came out for the exact issue. I called Infiniti "Customer Care" and I use the term loosley and was ultimately told pay to have it diagnosed and repaired and WHEN the formal fix came out for the recall they would consider a reimbursement. It was going to cost about a $150 for diags then they said several hundred dollars (roughly a grand) if the harness had to be replaced. I don't have that kind of money to wait on a reimbursement. Then I found out NTSA gave them until June 21, 2010 to send out the "fix" so it would be a matter of weeks but the point is they didn't care that the air bag was malfucntioning and was under recall. If I am in an accident and it doesn't deploy they'd rather wait until their mandatory release date to fix a recall. Kind of like Toyota knowing there was a break problem but telling people "good luck" until they get ready to do the recall.

First they told me by VIN it did apply to my vehicle then to cover themselves afterword they said they weren't sure. It was constant run around.

I love the care but Nissan/Infiniti "customer care" is rediculous and they do not care about the safety of the owners of their cars. Even though this is the best car I've ever owned I'll NEVER buy another Infiniti again and I'll tell everyone not to purchase either.

According to Nissan's recall announcement, if your airbag light is already on, you just need to take it to your dealer and they will fix it for free.  Otherwise you have to wait for the official recall to start.

Have you contacted the dealer?  That would be a good next step.

BTW - This fault only affects the passenger side airbag, so stay in the drivers seat until it gets fixed.

I have a defective air bag that is under recall that they will not repair until they are ready unless I want to pay for it in advance.

Don't understand your issue

Nissan has issued a recall and the fix will be available later this month.   At that point, you just take it to the dealer and they fix it for free.

I'm not sure what you're complaining about, but it seems as if your objection is that the fix is not available right now.   If that's the case, then I'd say your expectations are unrealisitic.  It takes time to put together a fix package and deliver it to dealers around the country.

Recalls work the same way with all of the other manufacturers, so good luck with whatever you choose to buy next.
