This guy Johnny is a smooth talker. He told me his cabinets and granite was the best thing since apple pie. I visited the showroom where the cabinets were shipped from, and when I saw the fit and finish I questioned John about how bad it was. His remark was that it is all in the installation and his "guy" was an ace at installing these particular cabinets. By the way, the cabinets were RTA (ready to assemble) from China. They are all real wood with a stain finish. The manufacturer is Mayland Cabinets in Rancho Cucamonga.
I have to say, he did show up when he said and his timeline for finishing the job was right on time. But that is where all the problems began. There were many problems I saw right away which include: cabinet doors do not close properly, gaps in the crown molding, doors have large gaps, cabinet drawers not adjusted right, cabinet shelves are not spaced correctly, 3/4" difference in the upper cabinets height from the granite from one end to the other (yes the upper or lower cabinets are not level, so from one end to the other there is 3/4" difference) and many other fit and finish problems. Don't have him install your knobs/handles on the cabinets as they will all be crooked. They can't even get them on straight! John's installation guy had to make several trips back to try and fix my problem lists.
Now lets talk about his granite..... What a joke! I have several large spots where epoxy was used to fill gaps and the epoxy was never colored to look like the granite. They even used a black magic marker to try and hide it! The 6" backsplash was cut from different pieces so it does not match where a seam is. My contract never stipulated "prefab" and John's excuse was it is a prefab slab so the fit will not always be perfect. THIS IS FAR FROM PERFECT.
John's final attempt to make me happy was to knock off $700 from the $13K total bill, so I paid him the balance and had to leave as his installer made the final attempt to fix all my problems. To my dismay, when I returned home, the cabinets still have flaws! Shelves are not right, doors do not close properly, fit and finish problems, molding issues and of course the granite still has epoxy everywhere.
Long story short.... do not use this guy!

After 6 months- cabinets have more problems

YES- after just six months.... MORE PROBLEMS. Drawers do not align and shut properly! I have had to re screw most of the cabinet doors due to stripped screws during installation.
Now the microwave they installed does not vent properly and they re installed it with only ONE of the TWO screws. It is leaning to the right. Luckily the cabinet side panel is holding it in.
The dishwasher was not installed properly either. It was never set in with screws, so when the door is open and the bottom drawer fully extended, the entire machine leans forward! I continually have to re adjust the machine so it will sit straight.
WHAT A JOKE! Beware buyers.

John fixed cabinets...

I apparently did not give John Barro / Inland Cabinets enough time to come back out and make the necessary adjustments to my new cabinets. He sent his installer back out on Saturday 8-27-2011 to make those adjustments and they look good now.
I cannot delete the original post, per Rip Off Reports terms. But I want to stress that John has made it a point to make me happy with my new kitchen. Please give him a chance- Adam
