INSKIP BMW/PESNKE AUTOMOTIVE MECHANICAL REPAIR PRACTICES ARE DISHONEST

Now I know why Penske Automotive is one of the most profitable delaership in the ocuntry! Every time you bring your car in they come up with a minimum $1,500 to $2,500 repair that needs to be made. And most of the repairs are priced at prices that are often double what you would normally pay at an honest auto repair shop with reasonable rates. I had my car into this deealership (INSKIP BMW, Warwick, RI) in April because the Transmission Failsafe Warning Light came on. They checked it out and said they could not duplicate the error light. I told them to properly and fully diagnose any possible problem relating to this Transmission Failsafe Light because I did not want anything going wrong with the transmission. They told me everything was fine and not to worry about it. But then, the next month the Transmission Failsafe Light Came on again and I brought the car in and they told me that the Electronic Transmission Control Unit had failed due to a faulty fan which is supposed to keep the unit cool -- and they informed me that the repair would cost $2,300. I asked them if they had checked this when I brought the car in a month earlier and they said they had not because the Transmission Failsafe light was not coming on at that time. I protested that the fan OBVIOUSLY should have been checked during the previous visit and that this would have prevented the unit failure. However, they told me that they would not accept responsibility for this and that I would have to pay for the $2,300 electronic unit. I did so under protest. Also, the car was damaged during the two most recent visits for service leaving me to believe that such damage was done consciously and purposefully by the Inskip mechanics. The deealership also refused to take responsibility for this damage.
