I order a violin package from this company. I recieved an order verification, and a payment verification from PayPal. After that, nothing. On the website it lists my order as "Processing". There has been no notice of shipping, and no UPS tracking number. Further investigation of the website reveals a "disclaimer" page that claims a 1-5 day "Processing" time and shows a color-coded map of "probable" shipping times.
I sent an email to them but they did not respond.
I called their phone number but all I got was a recorded message that said to send them an email.
My next steps will be to file a police report with the Utah BBB, Logan UT law enforcement, and the Federal Trade Commission.
I strongly recommend avoiding this "company"!

Instrument Alley Update to Report: #331395 Logan Utah
I wish to state that I did receive my order from "Instrument Alley". Although, the order was not complete. A DVD that was supposed to be part of the purchased package was missing from the order. Since the entire process had been aggravating and traumatic I elected to drop the matter. I had my violin that was all I really wanted.
Then, a few weeks later I found a message on my answering machine expressing chagrin over my report on this site and threatening me with a lawsuit. Worried, I emailed the administrators of this site and CC'd Instrument Alley with that email. I'm a disabled veteran and was worried about the lawsuit threat so I consulted with my V.A. case manager. He advised me that it sounded like the owner of Instrument Alley was blowing off steam and to just let the matter drop. So, once again, I let the matter drop.
Today, 12 August, 2008, I checked my mail and found a package from Instrument Alley. I haven't opened it, but from it's size and shape it seems reasonable to assume that it is the DVD that was missing from the order I placed on 4 May, 2008. I have already purchased other violin DVD's from other companies, and will be returning the unopened package to Instrument Alley.
This whole matter started over what I consider to be rather unorthodox and questionable online business practices. At this time, I am of the opinion that Instrument Alley and its owner are, arguably, a reputable business. However, from the volume of negative feedback, from a variety of Internet sources, spanning a significant amount of time, I am of the opinion that Instrument Alley is in denial regarding the impact their unorthodox business practices have on Internet customers who expect a certain norm of Internet commerce.
What I had hoped would be the pleasure of exploring and enjoying music with a new instrument has turned into a nightmare. Merely looking at that violin now makes my stomach churn.

This report is a joke and is a complete mystery!

This guy filed this report only 4 days after placing an order with us! Why he left a report on this website is a mystery. We even gave him a call in response to a message he left and told him when the order would go out. I even have an email of this guy thanking me for the call! The order was placed May 4th on the weekend.
The order was shipped on May 9th within the 1-7 business day processing time we require. 084524910092686 at www.fedex.com. There is no "disclaimer" page as he claims, it is the shipping and processing information page at the bottom of our website that has all of the information regarding shiping times: http://www.instrumentalley.com/Articles.asp?ID=126. The map he refers to is not probable shipping times, it is the number of days in transit once the package ships. If the customer did not agree to this processing time then he should not have ordered with us, and it was ignorant of him to assume a shipping time before he even looked on the website.
