I specifically told my admissions person I would be moving out of state and wanted to be sure my degree would be usable, to which she replied that it would be good nationally. After 2 years of getting myself through their lab tech program, when it was time to do my internship and move, it took months for my program supervisor to inform me I could not use my education in Florida unless I had 3-years or full-time work experience in Colorado- yet Colorado doesn't provide full time positions, let alone part time positions for the number of graduates they pump out. VERY few people who graduate end up finding jobs, and I've seen many of my fellow graduates since, who are having similar frustrations.

The admissions people told me many things to get me to sign on that weren't true. My husband graduated over 6 months ago, and the school STILL hasn't fulfilled it's contractual obligation to set up his Registry exam. Everytime he asks, they tell him it's someone else's problem, yet the school HAS to set it up through AMAA. I have to start school all over again now in Florida and my 4-year program will cost less than their 2-year....if you want a career in medical, go to PPCC, get credits that are actually recognized, and save your money. I wish Id read earlier reports before signing on. This place is a diploma mill and I don't know how they stay in business. If you still want to give it a shot take a recorder into your admissions meeting- I sure wish I did.

Update from Florida

AUTHOR: Jenn - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, November 13, 2013

The day after I filed this report, I received a call from 3 of the school supervisors, stating they wanted to help me with my issues.  I have no way of correcting my original post because of the way ripoffreport is set up, but I have to retract my comment that there are no jobs avaliable in my field in Colorado.  While anyone entering the lab program in Colorado SPRINGS should be aware that there may be a shortage of jobs in that particular area, I received, from the career supervisor, an email listing many job openings in scattered areas within other parts of Colorado State.

After few days of research, I received an email from my program supervisor stating that she spoke to the Florida Health Board, and they DO, in fact, accept Intellitec's accredidation program.  I personally double-checked this over the phone with the Health Board, to which they concurred. So, theoretically, after much unnecessary stress, I should be able to practice in Florida after all.

Since this time, I've passed my national exam from the AMT, with all appreciation to the caring and competent teaching staff who went above and beyond, as well as the persistence of my program supervisor.  The next step is to get registered within the state, so I'm expecting to bring working in a lab within the next few months.

SUGGESTION- Before enrolling, rather than taking your admissions officer's word that they can competently answer questions about your field, ask to take your questions to the program supervisor before you enroll.  Questions about location, criminal background, and professional opportunities in your field of study should be fielded to the program head, because the Admissions Department, back in Fall 2010, certainly misled both my husband and I in different ways.  I still stand by my statement that the admissions people are paid to make a 'sale', and have peronally overheard misrepresentations in that respect.  Anyone working for a school who guarantees they will find you a job should not be trusted.  In turn, you should not expect your school to find you a job in the first place.  This school will give you the tools to find your OWN job.

In conclusion, the bitterness I felt upon leaving the school has been quelled by my supervisor's dilligence in helping me jump through the hoops to practice.  I'm finally a Certified MLT, and look forward to working in Florida by the end of this Winter.
