i woke up one morning, 11 years old and decided that i wanted to write poetry. my work was considered good and so wherelse to start but the internet. i found pop-ups including phrases such as "over 58 grand awarded in poetry contest". as any 11 year old girl would be i was so excited.

i thought that THIS was my chance to bacome a writer - and maby even help my low-income family of six with money. i think i was dreaming a little TOO much. any way yes i entered a poem in the contest and a few other poems in contests too. ladies and gents please stay away from poetry sites such as: poetry.com,famouspoetssociety.com, and internationallibraryofpoetry.com
i regrettingly say that i now have received 6 letters of notifications that poems were published in antholigies and cds and of course i signed every one of those letters. think about what your signing think about WHO or WHAT you are putting youre poetry in the hands of.

its all fake! i was invited to many conventions also to only find that they cost over 600 cash just to attend. i dont know about you but i work for what i get in life. i dont write poetry so that i have to pay to read it in books. an award is an award. it is something you EARN from work and poetry is work it isnt something you can just do. POETRY IS AN AWARD-SO WHY SHOULD YOU BE PAYING FOR IT?!

the next time you are about to enter your beautiful work that deserves some real attention think about what youre doing its all fake its all a scham stay away from it i am now 13 years old my family struggles to manage our money and poetry is one of only few things that give me hope trashy fake contests and conventions don't reward poetry they make money off it and throw it away your poetry is too good for this if anyone reads this i would be honored to hear responses through the rebuttal button its nice to hear that i am not alone in this ripoff world of poetry contests
