After researching initially for a new digital camera, I came across this site, invies.com, with amazing prices. This should have been my first clue to deception, but there were also other products listed with retail prices. I did a little background, but not enough time was really spent doing it.
Interestingly enough, one site said that invies.com was purchased by a German company that also owns Lidl and some Carrefour stores. (We just went to Europe over the summer and both Lidl and Carrefour were our go-to grocery places, so I felt that it was legitimate.)
Instead of the camera, I decided to buy a 7qt. Kitchen aid Pro Line Mixer in Merlot for $50. Wow. I added it to my cart to checkout. There was a video tutorial how to do so by going to Amazon.com, purchasing a $50 Playstation Network code to insert into the payment box at invites.com. I imagine that since I received the PSN code and USED it, I have no recourse with even Visa. I actually made a purchase and received it. Tricky.
This again, should have alerted me to a shady deal, but I felt that this must be how they can afford to sell items cheaply.
I received an order number, later it was in processing, and finally it was listed as shipped. I ordered on Nov. 27 and it was to be delivery estimated between Dec. 5 and Dec. 8.
In in between that time, I found that most people have been scammed and now I have no recourse. I contacted invie.com by e-mail for tracking information with no reply this far.
I have filed a complaint with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) in Colorado. I encourage others to do the same. I will also file a police report.
I doubt that anyone will be reimbursed. I chalk it up to a learning experience. I do a lot of internet shopping, so I thought I was immune to this sort of thing. But when a site pops up when you do a search for a product, that should be legitimate! not a scam site. How does this happen?
