This company somehow justified requiring two tow trucks to impound a roughly 350 pound ATV. One of the tow trucks was a 4x4 flatbed model. The tow did require about 6 miles of graded dirt road driving, which I have no problem with. I do have a problem with why the flatbed was needed, especially when the flatbed truck was parked about 100 feet from hwy 14 at the end of this graded dirt road. It is only about another 10-12 miles back to where the tow yard is from that point. My receipt shows the flatbed being used for 1 hour and 50 minutes. I do not know if they just drive those flatbeds extremely slowly or what... I asked the company about these charges for the flatbed and was given no answers, basically they told me to shut-up or they would call the authorities. I was hung up on repeatedly trying to get information about getting my ATV back. It cost me over $1400 to get the ATV back and I was told to "bring cash only" on the day I was to pick it up. I payed in cash, then found out that they had mysteriously lost the ignition key for the ATV I asked if we could get a hold of the driver to ask them if they had the key and was told "NO!" repeatedly. I asked them if there was any other place it could possibly be and was told "NO!". I feel completely cheated and I want my ignition key back!!
Beware of Inyo County Towing, they are thieves and rip off artists and could possibly be classified as "inept".
I find it extremely funny that if you google "Inyo County Towing" the first hit is for this page. priceless!

Well, this is what happens as an individual, when you try and stand up for yourself against a company that has wronged you. You could talk to anyone I've ever known and they would tell you that I am the most mellow person you'd ever meet.
None of "Warrens" accusations change any of the facts. Actually if you look up this company in the California records, there is no one named Warren on record as the owner of this company, so I think he is also lying about that.
You do not carry your cars original registration around with you, and you do not need to carry one for an off-road vehicle either. Actually the DMV never said anything about that when it was registered either, so please, get your facts straight.
The BLM ranger actually had decided to have the ATV impounded well BEFORE anything about the registration had been discussed, and the registration that I did have was discussed with him. Obviously he chose not to believe what I had told him.
I do not have respect for people that go around bullying others, period, and to use the excuse of "it's my job" is even worse, no matter who they are. I have talked to 100's of people about this, including other Law Enforcement Officers, 100% of these people do not agree with what happened, and ALL the LEO's told me that they would have just warned us.

As for the rest, I was told to "only bring cash" when inquiring about picking up my vehicle (which I am pretty sure is against California laws regarding towing companies.)
There are numerous ways to get back to your yard from the location that I was in, one doesn't even require highway travel, but I suppose you did not take the short way back just to up the bill.
As for your "dispatcher" what names did I call her Warren? I'm sure you won't be able to recall because there was none. I was only informed of my missing ignition key after the fact, so yeah I was upset. I hope you would be too in a similar situation.
I am still going to call your bluff about the sheriff, if I had done what you claim the sheriff would have found us that day while we were still in town, at least I would hope that they would go find someone who caused an older woman to be scared for her life...
Once I learned your "reasonably priced and caring company" lost the key to the vehicle, I did call the BLM and attempted to talk to the ranger involved, I left him a message asking if he had possibly taken the key with him inadvertently, I wouldn't call it yelling and neither did the person who was right there with me, but I was pleading.

In the end all you and the BLM has done is scared a couple of people away from that part of the desert, people who used to spend a couple of hundred dollars a month in Ridgecrest and Inyokern, but will not any longer.

Eric Satterlee's illegal activity results in vehicle impound by Law Enforcement

AUTHOR: Warren - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Mr. Eric Satterlee of Camarillo, CA broke the law.  We were dispatched by the United States Bureau of Land Management because he did not have the off-road vehicle registration with him, which he knew had to be in his possession.  If he was not told at the time of purchase, then he would have been notified when he registered it.  He was notified that registration had to be carried in the vehicle, just as it is required to be licensed and registered on a street vehicle.  Mr. Eric Satterlee did not even have this off-road vehicle registered in his name.  The BLM Law Enforcement Officer would have let him go, and let him load his vehicle to take home, if he would not have been argumentative and beligerent with him.   Mr. Eric Satterlee has little or no respect for the law.

The BLM law enforcement dispatched us out on a 4-wheel drive road in the middle of the desert approximately 6-7 miles from the main highway.  We used a 4X4 recovery truck with a wheel lift to bring his off-road vehicle back to the highway safely.  However, this it is extremely dangerous to go down the highway with.  Therefore, we transferred it to a flatbed truck for the safety of his off-road vehicle and the safety of others.  We did not want to have an accident on the highway.

Our "2-wheel drive" flatbed truck arrived at the highway rendezvous and had to wait on the  4X4  recovery truck to arrive with Mr. Satterlee's off-road illegal vehicle.  After loading, we drove Eric Satterlee's off-road vehicle back to the impound yard on the flatbed which was another 29 miles.  Our 4X4 truck can only do about 5  miles per hour over extremely rough terrain as the truck would be torn to pieces.  This would explain why the recovery took 3 hours and 35 minutes with our most experienced driver of over 25 years.  The driver of the flatbed had 20 years experience.  This makes a total of 45 years of tow truck recovery and driving experience.

As our men and women feel that they should be paid for what they do, just as though Mr. Satterlee feels he should be paid for what he does, we have to charge accordingly.  I know companies here locally that would have charged twice as much. We are among the most reasonably priced and caring companies.

This man Eric Satterlee gave our 82-year-old woman office manager an extremely vicious verbal assault when she tried to get the information from him about the registration and all other pertinent information that was needed for the release of this vehicle.  He called her bad names.  She was afraid of Eric Satterlee's violent outburst and had to call the Sheriff to make sure he did not get physical with her.  He went so far as to call BLM and scream and yell at them about it.  This man could use a class in anger management.  This is what got his vehicle towed in the first place - his anger.  Do not blame others for your problems when you cannot control your anger.  We are only doing our job in accordance with our contract with the Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement.

Mr. Eric Satterlee appears to be looking for vengeance because he got caught breaking the law.  Unfortunately, he is using our women owned company to get his satisfaction.  Picking on girls.......It appears that this makes him a bully
