I'm starting my initial research on self-directed IRA's and happened to come across IRA Financial Group from another website.  I called them up because I still had questions about their service that their poor website did not answer.  When I called, Fred H., picked up the phone. I introduced myself and told him that I was just starting the process of researching self-directed IRA companies, but that I had a few questions.  I think he said something while I was talking, so I said, "Excuse me."  He said,"No go ahead."  Then, I asked, "How long have you been in business?"  He said, "A number of years."  I said, "Is there a number to go along with a number of years?"  Then, he said, "Thanks for calling" and HUNG UP on me.  WTF?   Did he think I wasn't serious and that I was calling him just for the hell of it?  Uh, yeah Fred, I like to call people and waste their time because I like to waste my time too.   Seriously?

I don't know if this is Fred's way and/or IRA Financial Group's way of treating potential clients, but you can bet in the competitive field of self-directed IRA's that these guys are not one of the big players.  Their whole schtick is that they were founded by top tax and ERISA attorneys.   Big whoop.   I spoke to 4 other self-directed IRA companies (who, by the way, gladly answered my questions) and they have top tax and ERISA attorneys in-house too.  IRA Financial Group may have been founded by top attorneys, but they SUCK at customer service.

Don't even waste your time calling them!!   You might just get hung up on simply for asking a question!!  They obviously don't want new business!

I highly recommend IRA Financial Group and Mr. Horner

AUTHOR: Pam - ()

POSTED: Saturday, October 18, 2014

A few weeks ago, I was considering signing a client agreement with IRA Financial Group and came across this complaint as I was doing my due diligence prior to signing. I was very surprised to read the above criticism of Fred Horner.  Mr. Horner was the same person I had talked to the first time I called the firm and my impression of him was diametrically different from that of the person who wrote the complaint. In every conversation I had with Mr. Horner, on the phone and in emails, I found him to be professional, courteous and very knowledgeable.

In just a few weeks since I read this complaint (and this was the only complaint I could find), IRA Financial Group completed setting up my self-directed IRA LLC with a level of service that is rare to find. After I signed the agreement, I was immediately sent a bio of the attorney assigned to me. He and his assistant have been, and still are, quickly available to answer any tax and legal questions I may have regarding the IRA LLC.

Based on my experience, I believe IRA Financial Group is fortunate to have someone like Mr. Horner representing them as the first contact when potential clients call. He made a great first impression, one which has been upheld by everyone I have dealt with subsequently. I would highly recommend this firm.

IRA FINANCIAL IS A HONEST COMPANY

AUTHOR: kelly - (United States of America)

POSTED: Wednesday, June 08, 2011

I just used IRA financial Group.  I am a attorney in Michigan and have dealt with many firms over the years.  Everytime I called IRA Financial,  I was able to speak directly with a person,  and have my concerns addressed the same day.  IRA Financial Groups fees were far less then the other companies I looked to use in the past.  I was able to talk to the owner of the company just about anytime I wanted.  My experience was nothing less then SUpurb with this company. If the only thing the complaint above indicated is that they were rude,  then I think that is validation of how good IRA Financial Group is.   I highly recommend this company.  5 Stars all the Way.    Signed.  Kelly

A rude caller with nothing to say

AUTHOR: Fred Horner - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 15, 2010

I remember this lady. She called on a Friday evening with a great deal of attitude and asked the same question 2 or 3 times. Before I go further, let me explain; Our calls come through VOIP (internet call) sometimes there can be a significant time delay which causes the parties to speak over one another. I always try to explain what's happening, but this was less than a one minute call. The "no, go ahead" is exactly what I say when I realize I stepped on the caller when they were still talking. (It's worst on Friday nights, apparently because that's one of the busiest nights for internet servers.) Regardless, this woman stopped talking and I thought she was gone so I said "thanks for calling" just in case.   As I said, I remember her because I waited for a few minutes in case she called back, but she really seemed like a crank caller and it was late on a Friday evening so I did not take the intiative to call her back. As I read her "complaint" I realize that she is exactly what I thought she was and now I don't feel the least bit guilty, consequently I would like to thank her for declaring herself.

We work very hard for our clients and are intensely proud of the service we offer. It's always painful to see that someone was negatively impacted, but this was a ridiculous lady with, as you can read, a lot to say about what was obviously a phone issue, not a business or client service issue.
