IRI pressured me to purchase their silver and I suspected the salesperson was a crook to be putting on the pressure. Quickly shopped around and sure enough, they were ripping me off by overcharging by 25% to other sellers of silver. Never signed any contract but salesperson intimidated me by stating there were penalties that must be signed.

I become furious when someone takes advantage of me. I become the incredible hulk. I am meeting with a good friend of mine, who happens to be the attorney general for Pennsylvania. The commonwealth of Pennsylvania and its citizens will be alerted that this company is a scam. I am going to ask the state attorney general to notify the other 49 states and make their state attorney general alert their citizens to stay clear of this company.

Who is Bob from Reading PA?

AUTHOR: Lakeblogger - (United States of America)

POSTED: Thursday, January 21, 2010

I have read this complaint 5 times and it still makes no sense. This guy "Bob from Reading PA" is complaining that Investment Rarities took advantage of him.
How can he be taken advantage of he never bought anything. My suspicion is he is a salesman at a competitor and is trying to create poor PR for a solid reputable firm like Investment Rarities. Sad that people go to such lengths. This "Bob" has not had the courtesy to respond to any of the comments posted by other in this report.

I have been purchasing coins from Investment Rarities for 7 years and have enjoyed every minute of my relationship with my broker. He is respectful, knowledgeable and genuine.

Be careful!

AUTHOR: JettaRed - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 25, 2009

Bob,

Obviously you feel outrage over your interaction with IRI. However, you should be careful in how you express yourself and the implication of your statements. Read up a little on the definition of slander, libel, and defamation to ensure your efforts to inform others do not get you in trouble.

Making public false statements (and I'm not saying you did) with the intent to cause harm (which could be proven in this case) can get you in a lot of trouble.  Make sure your statements are factual and provable.

Investment Rarities has a great track record!

AUTHOR: Tom Stock - (USA)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 24, 2009

Investment Rarities has sold and delivered over 2 and 1/2 billion in precious metals to our clients. By following our advise, our clients have netted almost 3 billion in profits. Our commissions are within industry standards. We do not employ "pressure tactics" to close a sale.

Finding a lower price on the Internet for a similar product does not automatically make the higher priced company a "scammer". Not delivering your product does. We have been in business for 36 years. Our reputation has stood the test of time. We have served 40,000 clients who are repeat buyers.

Due Diligence

AUTHOR: Luxomni - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, September 28, 2009

I used to purchase from IRI (and may again if I feel circumstances warrant it). They do charge high "premiums" (read commissions) over spot. But definitely not the highest. And I think they take way too long to deliver. But I have never been pressured. I appreciate their newsletter, their shipping, and the quality of the items I have ordered.

It was a good place to learn to buy silver until I was able to find better and faster services. In dealing with them, I learned to be a better buyer. I turned down their last four monthly calls and bought somewhere else.  On the next one, I will make a counter-offer more in line with what I pay elsewhere and see if they will meet it. If they want the sale, they will. If not, they won't. Simple as that.

Having said all that, Bob, they didn't rip you off. Our Capitalist system has contracts based on the meeting of the minds of a willing seller and a willing buyer. If you do not like someone's price or conditions, buy somewhere else. Exercise due diligence. And if you pay more than you think you should have, there is really no one to blame but yourself.

I'm not seeing a ripoff either

AUTHOR: Tim - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, August 07, 2009

I'm not quite understanding what this transaction was, and what the ripoff is.

Are you complaining because you purchased something at one outfit that you could have gotten cheaper somewhere else?

If so, thank you for letting us know that this company charges more than other companies. But such is the nature of a free market, and I think the AG has better things to worry about than a high-pressure salesman peddling overpriced wares.

What I really don't get is this statement: ". . . salesperson intimidated me by stating there were penalties that must be signed."

A penalty is not something that can be signed. Can you clarify this statement for us?

Best regards!
