When we purchased our timeshare after 9/11 we were so excited, we would be able to rent it or use it anywhere in theworld. Little did we know they never registered us with interval. Then our fees kept going up and up. We refinanced with the and were not told they refinanced with them for the original amount. Being ill I just took them for their word. Then both my boys went to Iraq, I had two surgeries back to back and I asked them to rent my unit to pay for the fees I owed. They stated itcould not be done. After having someone come over and look at my paperwork because I am totally disabled, they not only found a letter stating they could rent it out and I may have to pay a little fee. This person found they were charging me thousands in "In house collection agency fees" they were charging me "club fees" when they never had me registered for Interval. When asked about it, Jose stated " what does it matter if you were registered or not, we pay it anyways. Not realizing if we are not registered who is the money going to and for what since we were never registered for 7 years and therefore the money I was paying was going where? and for who to use? When told we wanted to sell this time share they said we couldn't until my fees were up to date. I sent them two letters authorizing the renting of my 3bedroom unit for the past due fees, which would be on and beyond what I owed. I then received an invoice stating I only owed $50.04 from Island One. The following day I received a bill from their collection agency requesting over $4000.00. I asked them what happened to the money from the rental, they again reiterated, they could not rent it. It was against club policy. Fact is I have the letter stating they could, I wrote them giving them permision to rent it, and use the money to pay any late fees, Island one sent a statement showing I was up to date with the exception of $50.04, yet their collection agency had their head so far up their a.., they did not know what was going on. If you look up on the BBB website in Florida, there have been in the last 6 months alone 35 complaints against this company alone. To top it off, this company has NEVER once sent me a monthly statement as to what I have owed since the first payment I have ever made, and this is suppose to be a mortgage. What kind of mortgage company does not send out mortgage statements?
