IT MGT Printer supplies SCAM invoice Carson City Nevada

We received an invoice in the amount of $1,220.96 from IT MGT for HP Printer supplies that were neither ordered nor received, hence this was a completely bogus invoice. The Unit pricing was not inline with normal supplies. The Invoice had the correct name and phone number for our Accounting Director and looked very convincing and professional.There was also a charge for expedited shipping of $22.98.

They contacted our main line and asked to speak with accounts payable. They discussed the invoice with our accounts payable person, so this scam involved social engineering as well. Discrepancies include the following: 1) They are not in our system as a current vendor of ours. 2) The supplies are for a model of printer that we do not own (in this case a P1102). 3) The supplies are extremely overpriced (a new printer of that model costs less than $200 and the invoice was for supplies with a $598.99 unit price. 4) Our internal controls require signing off that we received what was being invoiced before we pay. That wasn't going to happen. 5) a review here on ripoffreport.com disclosed an almost exact same scam incident, including identical detail like including a flyer for a $100 VISA gift  card upon payment of the invoice.
