This guy has apparently scammed many other people under other alias, such as "Gabriele Monti" or in this incident "Marco Rossi" with pretty much the same pitch and story.  He drove in a Black Range Rover and approached me asking for direction to the aiport while I was walking on Du Parc, passing by the St. Hubert around H2X 3P9 at roughly 12:00 pm.  Then he told me that he had several leather jackets that he wanted to give away because he didn't want to have to pay the heavy taxes at the airport.  So I decided to check out these "free jackets."

As I got in the car to take a look at the jackets, he explained to me that these jackets were from the Monreal fashion show, which he was here for earlier this month. He handed me his business card that said Giorgio Armani on one side and on the other his title, addres, and etc.  As we talked more and more, he said he had several other Armani jackets he wanted to give me, BUT he then said I'll give you all of these if you pay for my two week rental, which was 1600$.  He explained to me that these jackets were worth up to 2 thousand for some of them and that he was doing me a favor.   He showed me a few of the jackets, , which I noticed were in plastic wrapping, coat hanger, and a bag, and showed me the "lighter" on leather trick to prove the authenticity. I decided that 500$ for six jackets would be reasonable, which was so foolish since there were so many things I questioned, but I fell prey to his charisma.  Since I did not have 500$ in cash on me, he offered to take me to the closest bank, but asked me to hurry because he had to get ot the airport.

As we drove to the bank, I asked him questions about his family.  He told me that he had twin daughters that were 3 years-old and even showed me a picture on his iphone and told me more about them.  When I asked him about his age he said that he was "30 years-old" and he started in the business thanks to his dad, who desiged women's bags.  From the conversation, he seemed like an Honest Italian family guy, which ultimately made me decide to go through with it.  After I got the money and handed it to him, I got the goods and he drove off.  I did more research on his card, inspected his goods on closer inspection, and then realized what a fool I was.  The card had a "Hotmail Address", which I recalled he carefully had his handover when showing to me before I took it and pocketed into my wallet.  Also, the clothes were not the quality seemed upon a second look.   A very expensive lesson I learned for being such a guillable fool.  Some things are just too good to be true and if they seem too good - be very wary.
