We purchased an Ivory home and closed on it in November of 2013.  On our final walk through I had many concerns.  Construction of the home was assumed to be completed by Ivory but there were many things that still needed to be done.  The plumbing hadn’t even been completed in the master bath.  The drain to the sink in the master bath was broken.  The mirror in the other bathroom didn’t have the wood frame around it yet.  This was included in the package that the home had been built with.

The carousel in one of the kitchen cabinets wouldn’t even turn because it hadn’t been installed correctly.  Many of the cabinets in the kitchen didn’t open and close without rubbing on the microwave, hitting other cabinets.  Closet shelves had not been painted that were out of view or above eye level, apparently to save Ivory time and money.  There were scratches on one of our living room windows and I hadn’t had time to inspect the other windows yet.

The Ivory building superintendent and salesman that worked with us pressured us into signing though saying that their warranty department was just incredible and would promptly correct any problem before one year was up after closing on the home.

It was months before we got our problems corrected and they questioned whether we should even have the wood frame around the bathroom mirror asking us if we were sure it was included with our package.  There were also problems with painting that looked very subpar and shoddy that most builders would be embarrassed by.

Ivory did eventually fix most of our warranty concerns but there was a seam in our living room carpet that was very noticeable and the carpet guy made two appointments with us and never showed up at either.

There was also the water leak caused by one of Ivory’s contractors.  Our first water bill was about $3,000 because there was a leak and wherever the leak was – it was running our meter.

Ivory was a complete joke working with them on this issue.  They initially acted like the water leak was our problem – figure that one out.  Maybe if we were filling a few Olympic size swimming pools every month it would be our problem.  There were three of us living in our townhome.

I was very irritated that this was “our problem.”  One of their warranty people said that I needed to contact their sub-contractor and work out a solution.  I really couldn’t believe that he was actually telling me that.  I said, “no, I won’t and you need to work it out with your contractor and figure out who is going to pay the bill, it has absolutely nothing to do with us.”

We started having problems with our water heater before our one year warranty was up.  The pilot light started going out on the heater.  This first happened around Labor Day and then became more frequent.  We called Ivory at least three times telling them that it needed to be looked at before our warranty period ended in November of 2014 but had no response.

I finally filled out an online warrant request when the pilot started going out every week or so in December.  I told Ivory that I had requested warranty work at least three times for the water heater but they conveniently said that there was no record and basically that we are screwed because I didn’t put in a written warranty request online.

But our cell phone records would show that we contacted them several times concerning the problem with our water heater.

I was shocked when the head of their warranty department told me that she’d recorded our phone call recently after the phone call was over.

Basically, we gave Ivory notice at least three time before out warranty period but since it wasn’t written, they are not going to do a thing to fix our water heater when we closed on our home a little over a year ago.

Ivory offers a very subpar shoddy product and they don’t stand behind their work or warranties.
