IWD Market Research Offered job as Customer Service Evaluator. Check enclosed is counterfeit/invalid New York New York

Responded to an e-mail from Kantar Market Research,Inc regarding a position as Store Evaluator paying $180 per evaluation. Sounded great! About 2 weeks later, received a letter in mail postmarked from Canada with a return P.O. in New York. Enclosed was a Contractor's Agreement for a Customer Service Evaluator, evaluation forms and a cashier's check in the amount of $2490. $180 was for 2 hours evaluation pay, $2490 was funds for training assignment to be activated when I called. Was instructed to read and sign and fax contract to 1-855-318-9708 and the call 1-888-496-9525 to connect with a controller who would activate the check. Having been nearly scammed before, I decided to check it out. Apparently IWD Market Research is a valid company that does hire mystery shoppers, so that part checked out. Strangely enough though, the check did not come from IWD but it was drawn on M&T Bank in Buffalo, NY. I called the bank and informed them that I suspected fraud and to please verify the check. As it turned out, the account number had an outstanding number of counterfeit checks written on it. Also the check number was not one of their sequences therefore invalid, no good, counterfeit , fraudulent! I also googled IWD Market Research-scams. I was then directed to this site where I kept reading the same MO. Different company, same scam! Needless to say, I will not be accepting this position. I hope that my report will prevent someone from being scammed by these unscrupulous thieves. Follow your instincts. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't!
