I used the services of Sanford J N & Son Contractors after speaking with the owner of the company James Sanford. I hired Sanford and Son Contractors to excavate my 1 acre property so I could put an office building on it. I gave them the plans of how I needed the property to be excavated that I had been given from the city planners who approved the excavation.
I needed the work done by a certain date and Mr Sanford promised that he’d be able to complete the work in the given time frame which was 3 months out. Mr. Sanford said that he had plenty of time to finish the job and that I should give him a hefty upfront fee in order to secure the work; which I mailed to his company J N Sanford & Son Contractors by registered mail.
After 2 months went by I did not hear from James Sanford and when I called Mr Sanford he said that his equipment was broken and that he’d have it fixed very soon. After another month I called him and was not able to reach him. I kept calling and calling until I finally called him at 4AM and he answered the phone. When I asked him why the work had not started; he said his equipment was still not in working order. I told him I wanted my money back.
He refused and said that he does refund deposits and that he’d be able to do the work in a month or two. I told him that he had promised that the work would be done by now and that I had a deadline from the city and the county which I had given him copies of.
James Sanford said that “acts of God” were out of his hands and claimed that his machine broke because of an act of God. That’s Nuts! I asked for my money back and he refused and even stated to cuss at me.
I’m looking into taking Sanford and Son Contractors to court. I’m very upset that I got Ripped OFF.

The day after I filed this report I received a letter from the company with a check for my deposit. All my money was returned with interest.
I thought that was very nice of the company.
This report posted on RipOffReport the day after I received my check; so the money was send to me before I even filed this report.
The company did the right thing in finally taking care of this matter in a satisfactory way.
